They are not even fast...ROFL. What an ignorant comment. Only fast cars are expensive?

Define a fast car?

The UK EP3 Type R's are watered down, come with sound deading, more weight..no LSD etc etc

Ever heard of R&D?

Not to mention the rarity factor (may be not in Ireland ;) )

Just some difference between an EK4 and EK9:

Seam welded chassis
Stiffening brace under the chassis near the rear ARB
Stiffening bars behind the bumpers
A 22mm Rear ARB vs a 13mm on EK4
Better Shocks and springs
Limited Slip Differential
Lighter windscreen
Removal of sound deading

Engine differences:

Standard spec for Honda Civic VTI EK4

Engine Size – 1595cc
Cylinders – 4
0-60 mph – 7.9 secs
Power Output – 157 bhp
Torque - 151 Nm
Top Speed – 129 mph
Weight – 1260 kg

Standard spec for Honda Civic Type R EK9

Engine Size – 1595cc
Cylinders - 4
0-60 - 6.7 sec
Power Output - 185 bhp
Torque - 158 Nm
Top speed - 144 mph
Weight: 1090 kg

It's not all about straight line speed.

Anyway...

Good luck with it all mate.

i looked into buying one so i know a little about what differences there are, its all good facs and figures but its still the same basic car thats why i cant get my head around the asking price for them intergras are cheaper. looks the same apart from minor differences. just because the engine has different parts, it has recaros seam welded etc i still dont see why an ek9 at the same age as an ek4 fetch more than twice the asking price of a ek4. tbh id rather spend the 7k on a 54 plate rather than an r reg or whatever. you can pick up a good 330i coupe bmw and now dc5's aswell for that which costs more brand new and is better speccd. and no they arent that fast i know wthat its not all about straight line speed. there isnt much of a difference betrween a b16 a2 and a b16b considering the silly asking price. i see it in the eyes of what could i buy that would be more value for money and newer and more than likely better specc'd. i bought my 200sx for 4k and again, more power, leather seats and is a sleeker car all in all, and it wouldnt cost me 2k for a 100k mile 2nd hand engine lol

but anyway hope that it goes well in your favour mate as insurance companies can be right dicks. keep digging onto them and chasin them up until your satisfied :)

well at last some good news, her insurance company is accepting liability. they have said they are willing to repair my car and provide me with a courtesy car aswell.

now i already have a s2000 courtesy car which is being provided by a company who claim there costs back from the 3rd party. and i dont fancy ditching that for some shitty matiz or something similar.

also i think the place they want to get it repaired is local to me and i have not heard good reports, i do not want my ek9 going somewhere like that to get bodged. where do i stand with this guys?
they have asked for me to contact them, but your insurance say not to contact the 3rd party but to let them deal with it. anybody know my next course of action?

if the garage repairs it and you are not happy with the repair work, do not sign the paper work to get the car back and explain to the insurance you want your car back the way it was and get them to re-do the work, or take it somewere of your choice.

and the insurance deal with third parties, not you, get them to sort it out mate as that is what you pay insurance for, so you havent got to go through the stress of dealing with it

hope this helps

we had the same sort of problem, the place the insurance company wanted to send our bmw was not the best, so we said we want it to go to dealers and it ended up going to JCT600 Body Clinic, and I went in whilst work was being done, looked proper mint, and now it looks perfect.

You sure about that???????

Sometimes I think bodyshops overprice repairs for cars like this, in an attempt to have insurance companies write them off.

Then they either buy them as a damaged repairable or tip someone off who will do it.

I know it happens here.

That car could be fixed by someone of your choice to acceptable standards and then sold on, for a small if any loss of pocket to yourself.

Remember, its YOUR property you are talking about here, not the insurance companies. YOU decide WHERE, WHO BY and HOW the car is repaired, they pay out the repair, as long as the work is of a safe and satisfactory standard for the costs.

Dont give someone a bag of cash at your loss.

if the insurance company is paying though, i wont be at any loss will i. i dont care if they get charged through the roof, all i care about is my new car back PERFECT.

well if they get it repaired and you dont like it, you can complain and get it re-done, i did it on my old show car and had it re-paired 3 times in different garages.

well i just googled the number they wanted me to call back on, and there's no way that body shop is dealing with my car.

find a respectable body shop, the paint will have to be blew back on the door and the far wing for it to look right anyway, its not a matter of painting a panel and fucking it on,that will look a mile out.
