I was recently on pistonheads looking at part ex for Starlets and there are fair few bodykited up saxo's looking for px's with Glanza's:(

I've seen a few things like that about the glanza, but chavs normally prefer "newer" cars cos it shows they have money aye, also they cant get insured on a glanza (unless they lie about age and car type eg 1.3 on logbook bullshit), and they probably blow the engine up in 2 days.

If you see any glanzas with 17"+ size rims, and only boost mods = stay away.

Thankfully anyone i've seen/met in Ireland and in Scotland have been cool, its like when I had a Swift GTi, rare to see and most people were friendly when you passed/met them that had swifts.

I know of Three Glanza's in my Town and none of them are insured as Glanza's they are all insured as GL's,

So this must be going on everywhere!

I bet a fair few people on this forum are doing this old trick aswell.

that hasnt been caught on to by NI insurers yet hence :

with the number of crashed "gli/n/a" starlets its now dearer with some insurers to insure as a non-turbo than a gt turbo.

Hate to say it but I see a fair few minks driving gts, people who give you dirty looks when you pass them and generally fit th stereotype of a boy racer.

I never ever wanna be that, i mean im 23, a young professional but I like my jap cars. The other day in the office one of the girls said that I had a boy racers car:(, i tried to protest to her that Iv been in to them for years, how rare it was and how i was a responsible driver. But I didnt think it worked.

Same here mate, when someone says that, they just have no clue about cars etc... if it has alloys and exhaust, people look and think 'CHav'.... pisses me right off.

One of the main reasons I like gts/glanzas is because of the drivers, many of them are level headed and really into their cars.

Unlike corsa, saxo boy racer crews, most of them are neds and thick as pigshit.

Hehe, don't worry about that lad, i've heard all that loads of times, but hey every time I get in the car I smile, and anyone else who gets in does the same (apart from the girlfriend lol, but she has her own car anyway). Sure i'm now 30 and thought about getting a larger car, but theres no point, why bother trying to fit in with the type, when you are clearly interested in jap cars as a hobby. People generalise when they don't know the full story.

In my work at the mo, most of the lads seem to be interested in cars (all ages) and have Type Rs, Focus RS, Mazda 6 sports and so on. Maybe i'll buy a larger car and keep the starlet...

Also being in Ireland is great as there are so many "proper" like minded people who loves starlets :)

lol, Ricky, i reckon youve taken that a tad tooo seriously....

Ive read through it and they were just having a laugh in my opinion and because you are new a few things you said could have been taken a little wrong...

Just my opinion :)

That Tom Fenton is a complete tosser tho, atleast the rest of them are haveing a joke about it.
You should point out his sig says "Fastest Turbo Mini in the world? 1/4 mile in 12.17 s"

and that the fastest gt's and glanza are getting very close to breaking into the 10's if only more people in the uk were serious about drag raceing we could see some pretty quick times here to.

They also have no idea about rotarys, i do have to admitt alot of chavs do drive gt's and glanzas now.
