Paid Members - Benefit Suggestions?

I'd say something along the lines of, Paid only section on forum, some tgtt window stickers, tgtt tax disk holder?

For the amount of hits the site must get in a year I doubt all the sub fee's go towards its upkeep :)

Dylan is currently putting a lot of effort into some very interesting features for paid members. All I can advise at the moment is to bear with him.

There are quiet a few changes on the drawing board and more benefits for paid members is near the top of the list. Watch this space I'm sure you all will be more than happy with the arrangements being made.

Cool guys,

Reason for the thread was so that people could suggest things they will actually appreciate/use/value whatever, instead of something like a novelty key ring which I personally would not care for.

Look forward to the update anyway.

you dont get payed for the hits the site gets unless advertising is involved i wouldnt have though. there is no advertising on this site, could bring in a bit of extra revenue if there was a bit of advertising ;)

No you missed what I was trying to say.

I read somewhere that paid membership fee's go towards the paying for the server etc.. afterall the paypal subscription is to who hosts the forum.

I run quite a few websites, one that probably has alot more bandwidth usage than this one does a year.. I was meaning the server costs to host the forum has to be alot less than the total money received for the subscriptions... if not whoever hosts it has a really bad hosting plan!

As for the benefits being worked on, sounds good!

I guarantee you would be massively surprised how much bandwidth this site uses a Week as well as monthly hits.

Exactly Gee, we are exploring a few avenues at the minute that should help everyone. Details will be rolled out once everything is in place.

On the whole 'where the money goes' discussion we've already been down that road before. We offer one of the largest hives of EP-related activity and a huge amount of technical info to boot. Despite this we get a few boys armed with calculators trying to create a fuss.

It doesn't fill me with enthusiasm to be honest.

Maybe my post came accross wrong, I paid quite happily knowing what I was going to receive.. The technical threads on here is better than most car forums I've been on.. I wasn't meaning there is nothing to show for the subscriptions..just I was happy to see more things were going to be added.

I've been on other sites that even though you did get a nice fancy membership pack, the actual forum and or its content was shit!

Don't take the posts the wrong way :)

Hey people,

good thread Gee, Ive been working on this for a while and think it deserves its own mention and some stats for the people who think this site doesnt require much in bandwidth.

My feeling on the matter is simple - Paid members should be appreciated more than they currently are.
There was a concious decision to remove advertising from the site which in my opinion worked really well as it has made the site far more tidy than the old one. For those who want statistics... people just browsing this site every day are generating several GB's of traffic PER DAY. This site is very unique because the average visitor views 34+ pages per visit. That times the amount of visitors is a lot.

The amount of new visitors we have joining each day is putting even more strain on our host, it is almost time to move home again!

If we want to add more features we need an enterprise scale server and I dont want to upset anyone here or sound patronising but please, without any visability of the resource usage of this site, tell me how much the hosting should cost - You buy cheap you get cheap and this site is not going to remain the premier source for Starlet owners by being on some cheap ass host.

Over the following few weeks and months many new features are being selected and implemented along with merchandising of various forms. This will be a token of gratitude to our paying members and all I can say right now is that I only hope it encourages those who currently pay to re-subscribe and those who dont pay to see the value and become paid members because god knows we are going to need the cash.

So the challenge for us is to not alienate any non-paying members but give paying members the credit and features they deserve.

Lets not lose sight of the vision of this community - primarily we are a resource for EVERYONE and that will never change.

Thanks again for opening this thread Gee, we do want to recognise our supporters in a more obvious way.

when i joined i was happy to pay this money, the information and help you get on this site is brilliant. no query goes unaswered and no problem left untouched.
i have been on alot of forums and they are appalling compared to this, no one on them to update, no set layout.

this is brill.. woudl be happy with just a window sticker to advertise really so others can get all the help they need.
