I have a few ideas floating around.

Added a poll to the top of this thread - give me an idea of what is needed people and I'll try to build the foundations.

I'm like good old jay i have all the part numbers for every toyota car from 1990 to 2002, so if i started adding part numbers i'd be here all week,

If requested would be a better idea,

Right, not a great deal of votes but we'll give it a go.

I'll devote a little time to this tonight and see what we can accomplish. Might need to play around with the layout and stuff for a while so bear with me.

Would be good to make it a forum where no one could post, as said earlier in the topic if everyone could post it would soon become messy and totally unusable. I;ve voted for compiling as much of the info as possible.

Usually though I just take my car to toyota and the parts bloke is a start so he always helps me out. Would find a list very useful though!

Cheers,

Matt.

Right, haven't used any beer-power in my wonderings but how does this sound?

We operate off one single thread full of links to where the parts have been covered? This would sit at the top of the wanted section and offer part numbers on a constantly growing basis. You want a part number - you head to the wanted section.

The links would lead to resolved topics and contain whatever backup info was available.

Go on, shoot me down. I want to hear your opinions..

wouldn't it be better in one single thread in some sort of table with headings for chassis/engine etc...? obviously this is a lot of work for you but I want it done like that :p

Careful Matt, you might get yourself a job mate...

I think the idea of another 'Section' might be too complicated. A single thread covering everything we have identified so far would be much more managable. Makes sense to start small and keep it simple yeah?

You should see the size of a forum layout you need to cover the Parts Catalogue approach. It's a daunting task, but it would be mighty handy having an online EPC. Maybe one day..

Rightio.

I'll have a stab at creating a parts number reference index at the weekend. Going to take a fair bit of time so bear with me folks.

parts list?

aint it a good idea to have an area within the site specifically targeted towards parts, part numbers, approx prices, and where to get them.

for example i want 2 new headlights so went down to toyota earlier on. they quoted me £95quid excl VAT each.

it could be shown as...

1. Glanza EP91 headlight (98-99 models) - £95 ex VAT per headlight - Toyota Dealer & also part Number (i dont know this for the headlights)
2. GT EP82 wheel bearing (xxxx) - £xxx - from www.bla bla bla.com

people can obviously post on this to add parts to the list? just have it set up so it must be approved by admin so they can keep the format and stop it from being a bredding ground for chat about the specific parts.

a purely parts page in other words.

whats the verdict on this? i would certainly find it useful and im sure others would aswell.

cheers

lol... shushhh....

seriously its been a passion of Jay's for quite some time now and we have been discussing recently the best way to go about it.

As the foremost resource for starlet info on the net this would be a great feature for our members, always good to suggest these things though so thanks and keep the suggestions coming.
