Paseo HG with only 0.5mm?

this gasket seems quite cheap and sounds ideal for my forged 5e build.
there were some torque specs for installing the gasket but i'm not 100% sure i'm getting it :)

Anzugsverfahren:
2.5Kpm, 5Kpm, -90º+5Kpm, 90º
Nachziehen: Nein

1 kpm = 0.98nm so that's easy
so turque it down with 2.5nm (that's really low...)
then go for 5nm
after that turn it 90 degrees to loosen it up again.
then go to 5nm and 90 degrees to tighten it down?

Sounds perfect but just add X10 :D 25nm and 50nm

Feck. I used 44 instead. Guess we'll find out if it makes a difference in due course lol..

Just to share the experience and lessen my burdens.. looks like I may have to pop the cams out and retorque the head after all.

I have a slight lumpiness on cold start post-operation so I figure a little bit of coolant could be making it's way into the cylinder. Clears up after 5-20 seconds so it's not catastrophic failure but it isn't 100%.

i've had the exact same thing on my daily 2e-e build with a dodgy aftermarket headgasket. would start on 3 cylinders and after a few seconds it would run on all 4. after replacing the crappy gasket with an OEM one the problem was gone.

These aren't knock-off though. Genuine Toyota item.

I think the fault with mine lies in either the wrong torque setting or it's the surface of the block as it wasn't refinished. If retorquing doesn't solve matters I'll pop a normal gasket on instead.

then to 45nm

then ad 90 degree

jay if u have problems with ur dec put grease on the dec and head that will make a better seal/bond on older surfaces i do this al the time fixing cars !!!!! learned from old chaps :)

Fuck it - I'm reverting back to a stock 4EFTE Toyota gasket.

Just retorqued this 5EFE one and she ain't for sealing. If anyone is planning on using one of these make sure you get the block decked and the head skimmed. I didn't have the option as the engine stayed in the car and thought I'd risk it with just a refinished cylinder head - not worth my time and effort lol.
