rattling noise inside rocker cover

hey guys...i've been hearing a slight rattling noise coming from inside the rocker cover area, the car seems to run fine though, but due to the fact that i don't know what's causing it i'm avoiding any hard accelerations for now...any idea what that is?...

Might be worth taking the cover off and making sure nothing is out of place mate. Noises like that can turn into bigger problems if you aren't lucky. Also need to ask have you had any work done recently?

I've never had it opened before, since i brought it in from malaysia early last year, but the engine was fitted in december last year...could be time for an overhaul, i'll organise for a checkup

one other thing i've noticed, is some kinda vibrating noise coming from the gearbox area, which at first i thought it was the gearbox mount, but the sound still remains after i had it replaced. Due to a steering rack issue lately, i was thinking maybe that could be what's causing the sound, but i'm suppose to have it replaced next week, i'll see if the sound persists...if yes then it has to be the gearbox, though my clutch isn't slipping, but it is slightly harder than before...

what's your views on that bro?...

are you sure the noise is coming from the rocker cover?

it may be that some of the lifters are now out of tolerance,

it could also be the spring in the gears that run the inlet cam, the inlet cam has a spring tensioned gear, maybe this spring has worn.

as for the gearbox issue, it sounds like the clutch and release could do with replacing. and check the clutch fork and make sure it is straight

The noise seems to come from the rocker cover, but it's louder near the air intake manifold/ fuel rail area...and the gearbox noise sounds more like a soft grinding noise from a rotating object, but you'll only hear it when you let go off the throttle...would a low transmission fluid level cause this as well? i haven't checked it yet...

Yeah, that would be the easiest way. Youtube or another video hosting site would be your best bet.

sorry guys, i can't seem to get a video with good quality sound, so you can hear the rattling...but i've noticed the mid-exhaust pipe, where it bolts up to the downpipe, there's only one nut holding it in place, the 2 other nut is missing, causing it to vibrate when decelerating, or going through corners. so, i was thinking that could be it...currently looking for 2 bolts to get it fixed right, and then i'll see if the sound persist.
