Rear Sway Bar: Ultra racing vs Whiteline

now a lot of us have decided to use rear ARBs.........but from what i've seen there are only 3 bars available----if any more available, please state:)
- ultra racing fixed arb
- whilteline's fixed arb
- whiteline's adjustable arb

no i also know the whiteline product seems to be more popular......but u either have to drill or weld it to the chassis

has anyone tried the ultra racing rear arb??........no drilling/welding reqired....how does it feel?

or just get the adjustable whiteline arb and call it a day?

all input appreciated some members looking to get one of these ARBs would be more informed:)

PS---i was looking for this tread on the old forum....but can seem to find the detailed one that was discussed

i beleive there is a cusco one available - have seen them on the yahoo auctions a few times

was led to beleive that cusco and trd only did front ARBs

PS... sway bars = ARBs----depending on which part of the world people are

I ordered an Adjustable Whiteline one from Toby. Hopefully when it arrives will let you know how much better the car will be.

yeah....damage....every1 i know seems to be running the adjustable whiteline arb......but i'm VERY iffy about drilling/welding my chassis

i realise the ultra racing one hooks up a bit different---without welding/drilling......but no one seems to be using one

hence no comparison for myself and other members......i'm kind of trying to make a comparison tread---like the tdo4 vs k24....

well hopefully some1 runs it........else we'll all buy adj whiteline arb....lol

I'm using the Ultra Racing ones. Works just as well. Never did tried the whiteline ones but heard from some mates in the Australia, they have problem with the whiteline regarding the clearance between the back box and the ARB.

In my opinion, ultra racing bars are lower quality for a few reasons.

1. they don't got PU bushings
2. Not adjustable
3. It's a new company (2002)

Whiteline has a lot of knowledge:

Whiteline Automotive has its roots in the original Selbys Steering and Suspension company, started in the early 1960's making sway bars. Whiteline Automotive purchased the sway bar manufacturing division and retained the Selby's Swaybars brand continuing a proud 30 year history.

Whiteline uses PU bushings.

Don't know about the swaybar/ARB material itself, but I would choose a Whiteline bar:)
Get the 22mm Whiteline rear arb...

Whiteline rear bars are 20mm off memory but will measure tomorrow. The Fixed and adjustable are the same diameter. I would agree with Redhots comments the WL have better quality components. The adjustable WL is more for people who want to adjust the bar for different track conditions where as the fixed is the same as the middle setting on the adj, fine as a generic setting.

I've personally not seen a Cusco one either. The WL are fiddly to install but the end results are good. As also mentioned WL are suspension/chassis specialists so they should know what there doing although that's doesn't dismiss Ultra. I'll get some prices on the Ultra ones as have been meaning to add these for a while.

1: Both Whiteline bars are 20mm. The adjustable one uses the concept of leverage to move from hard to soft.

2: Cusco doesn't make a EP rear anti-roll bar. No JDM company does. They make front ones.

Never knew you had to drill to fit the WL one. I was told easy as to install? :(

it is you just gotta drill 1 10mm hole either side, and then just bolt it on, it doesnt make any difference to the strength of the chassis, trust me drilling them 2 holes is worth it.

Your right. The Whiteline swaybar/arb is 20mm. I've got confused because I got an old test article form the time that they developed the non adjustable, and there they say that an adjustable version will be developed that’s 22mm thick.
That probably wasn't necessary because it's become a 20mm.

Yes there easy to install. Mount it on the rear axel, look where you want the holes, take the wheels off and drill 2 holes, wheels back on, mount the links and your done. 30 minute job. :)

Anyway, I like the explanation on the other forum:
just judging by the length of the arms on the ultra racing bar....it is going to be VERY soft, compared to a whiteline bar. longer arms give the body more leverage against the bar when rolling. this is why the softer setting on the adjustable whiteline bar makes the arms longer, and stiffer setting makes them shorter.

Indeed. We bolted and welded to stop any movement still going stong and around 20min job as mentioned. You'll spend longer finding the right setting..

and here's another good response about UR arb from another site

""""""""""'i have an ultra racing one on my car...
i like it..great design , bolts straight on and works perfectly...

huge difference..
reduced alot of the understeer , but not to the point where it was promoting oversteer...

it comes down to the availability in your location really , whatever you can get your hands on for a decent price , you'll be happy with it...
i just like the UR bar because it bolts straight on , it works , and their quality control """""""""""

i cut and paste SOME of what this guy had to say......

maybe it will be helpful for some

ok my personal veiw of the ultra racing one is that it would be a very mild anti-roll bar compared to the whiteline one. also the kit doesnt look as good a quality imo. i do like the way its a bolt-on kit though with no drilling requied.

They come in 19mm solid thick metal wire material ( Same material they use for springs for the suspension)
