Alot of people have swapped the stock lumps out for the clio 16v engine and turbo'd them or whacked a Volvo 1.7T engine in, I almost bought one before the GT but simon swayed me towards a GT.

My mate had a Renault 5 GT with a GT25/28 Hybrid, that thing was crazy...ran 19psi because the boost gauge only went to 20 and wanted to make sure he knew if it was overboosting.

The only thing that I can think of is to watch out for the standard intercoolers, they have plastic tops and bottoms on them and if your changing the turbo and upping the boost they can blow off.

So if someone came up you and passed you the keys to a R34 GTR you would pass them back? or say a R35 GTR?

a guy who lives near mes got a pretty mint looking R5GTT and he rarely drives it because it seems to blow a turbo all the time he put a new one on and it lasted all of about 2 days before the turbo blew again!some of them do look nice but yeh they are pretty damn unreliable!!

Same you wont catch me anywhere near a renault!!

Especially a 5, I think they are horrid looking as standard and TERRIBLEY unreliable when fettled with.

Fairplay to the one in this thread though it looks a good example.

the good thing with the 5 is it runs a carb so theres no mapping involved, just a case of changing jets and haveing a wide band on hand, the only reason they are unreliable is because of neglect and headgaskets only go because its not set up right, they can be reliable if looked after and set up by someone that knows what they are doing:)

i have had r5 gt turbos since i was 18 and think they are great :drive:
they also do some very impressives times down the drag strip.the fastest doing 11.1@130mph and thats still using a carb:eek:

ok you can all :shoot: me now for sticking up for the 5 :slap::haha:
