travelling in the ford fusion, was indeed a shitter. Comfy but took away from the trip. I would of had so much fun the the ep, car and effort, lost for ever but memories are mine to keep.

p.s. hotel was a bit rough although we were well catered for in the local surroundings by shopping in Geay and a quick drink from Coq Hardi lol

and you know when you are in driving country when one of the local car dealers has replaced his door handle with:

I did some of these roads a few years ago on my motorbike. Had an absolutely fantastic time and would recommend it for anyone into driving/biking.

Awesome, I saw the nightspirt car out there, we were with a load of minis and retro cars, unfortunately i was in a hire car too, still got a lap of the ring in lol! What times was the ep82 doing?

not the best lap times to be honest but it's all in context really. Mark crashed on the 3rd corner :) and was a bit shaken. 2nd and 3rd laps his best was about 10:50. I'm sure with more laps and track familiarity the times would tumble. That's the intention of another visit next year.

Our neighbour had an mx-5 and had done 60 laps with their best time similar to marks after 3 laps. There is a guy who posted on here with a 10:05 after 8 laps which sounded pretty good.

Steve, we had a chat with a couple of the retro owners, you should have come over and said hello! There was a guy with a triumph slag that was part of the old skool convoy. How come you were in a hire car, were your intention to take the kp or something else?

It cost Mark about £1400, that's his guess. It was a typical lads trip, last minute preps (rooms booked 2 days before leaving with one booked while we were there) staying in 3 star hotels.

I didn't want to let money disturb the trip and had a really good drinking session in Thun in the 'red ox'. If anyone likes vodka and coke, like italy, they don't know how to make it. I got served one full glass of vodka and a glass bottle of coke - I didn't need many of those!

I reckon if you went to the ring for a long weekend, the costs would be as follows:

£200 chunnel return (costs a bit more during peak times - rough figure)
£22 per lap of the ring, gets better if you buy more laps in one go
£50 per night accomodation
£200 in fuel (guestimate, i've got a few hundred miles from manchester to ferry)
Drinks / Food and other bits - £200

Friday to Monday £900 ish

I'd like to plan another trip next year with an open invitation doing everything on a budget.

Travelling by ferry during the week, say Thursday to Monday might be £80 return.

hehe...didn't realise I had a login for this site :)

Nice to see the pics on here Matt, I'm never on this site. Cheers for the comments on the EP. I came off 3 corners from Adenau at 8.15 in the morning! EP took it on the chin though, no damage done.

By the time I'd done my second lap the 4 tyres were destroyed (were used Advan AD07s soft compound) down to the canvas. Plus my offside wheel bearing had turned to cheese so no forther laps were possible.

Next year I'll trailer the EP over there.

On a side note I've just won a set of Cruise fenders for the car to fix the aweful arch rubbing in the bends...awesome.
