depends what you are looking for I guess. Of course it wont be slow but the styling looks dated to me and having seen a standard one as a taxi in Dublin it just looked crap in my opinion.

LOL, so if you saw a granny 1.0 Starlet, you'd exclude it, even though a Glanza's completely different? A Caldina GT-T looks nowt like a standard one... :homer:

If I was you I wouldn't even be thinking of buying a legnum they seem to be very unreliable according to mechanics in Nz the gdi models had problems with lower grade fuel and the engine eventually dies about 10-15,000 km's later.

I used to have a mitsubishi mirage had nothing but problems with that pos car I know people that have owned vr4 legnums and galants that have had so many problems one guy had to get an engine rebuild at 90,000 km's and those tiptronic models have problems with invecs computers and cost $3500 nzd to fix :shoot:

I also reckon they are an insult to the vr4 badge true vr4's were the early e39 shape vr4's that have the 4g63t engine that were eventually replaced by slow heavy overweight cars that didn't perform very well and cost even more to run than the original true vr4

Imo the real true vr4's were the 1987-1992 ones good cars strong gearboxes on the evo 0 models

A legnum or galant vr4 weighs more than a caldina even a stagea is too heavy.

Deano - You've made some very good points in your post, but as usual, you spoilt it a bit with your usual references to beating other cars... Therefore, I've edited your post so that it reads as it should...

I get more girls looking at me in the caldina than I did when I had my glanza lol shaggin wagon hahaha

we've seen your pics babe, if these woman had a screwdriver handy they'd dig their eyes out.

anyway i personally quite like vr4's stagea's sti wagons, caldina's the heap....i havent looked into them enough to know which one id go for but maybe someday i'll decide to make that decision.

but def rick an interesting route to take, few years and you wont realise that you've built a sleeper...it'l just creep up on you and one day you'll be thinking this yokes fairly fast now!

anyone have anymore info one the volvos forementioned? are they petrol turbo? and are they the engines that the scandanavians(sp) love to feed big boost too?

I hope that's street talk for good? Need I remind you to look in my car profile under my Avatar? ;)

lol no its not street, i dont do street yo'yo man stuff. unless im taking the piss outa chavs.

i listed all the wagons i could think of then added "the heap" to say, "all these plus whatever ive missed" to suggest that i would consider any of the forementioned or missed in the future. :)

Didn't think it was, but just thought I'd check.... ;) A lot of people seem to be dissing the GT-T just because Deano has one, which is unfair... The lad's done something right (for once! :p), so should be given a little bit of credit... ;)

How come you're after an estate now Ricky anyhoos?

Bit of a contrast to a small hatchback

i'm not after an estate per say really, i just see them and they look different lol

no particular reason, i might not be even able to sell the starlet yet so i just doing some groundwork for when and if it does go

i know i might get stick but... try a volvo estate t5 r

i know they are old... but reto cool and underated
they are reliable 280-300 bhp cars

faisal

Yes very reliable, but they just look so dated! One of my favorite touring cars.

Picking up a nice one with reasonable mileage looks difficult though, and they can be quite expensive for a car that age with x amount of miles in my opinion.

You see some with close to 200,000 miles, just goes to show how reliable they are.

Ah ritey, fair enough

Swap you my Paseo for it :p

On a more serious note, based on the big estate cars in this thread assume for your next car you want a bit more comfort?

Even though this post has been edited it's still a load of rubbish and you didn't read a word I said about the Legnum VR4's.

We're not talking about GDI models.

We've already established the triptronic can have issues with the torque converter seal and other issues. Hence look for the manual version.

A Legnum VR4 is just over 1500KG. That's not very heavy for an estate car with a 2.5L twin turbo engine and modern Evo technology

So if you get a good manual example, you have 4WD, active stability control, active yaw control, traction control and ABS.

For this you can expect to pay £3200 which is not alot of money.
They do cost alot to maintain, petrol, oil changes etc.

Saying a car needs a rebuild is rubbish, there are plenty around in the UK with well over 100,000 miles. Any car will need a rebuild if it's been abused or not maintained well.

@ phil, the idea is to stop modding cars.

need something reliable, it is initiatially a weekend car, but if i do find another job then it will become the daily driver.

also will be starting to look at moving out and spending more time seeing the world, the past year has seen me just work on my car and my mates car and thats it really
