Target AFR

Fur knows what he's doing Phil. ;)

..... and how many people do you know that boost on WOT too and from work?

Ben :)

no no, dont get me wrong, im only here to provoke conversation and learn.

im quite sure that fur and the rest of you fellas know this alot better than me, but im just asking questions :) so 12.3 would be ok WOT? i never knew that at all,

and like jay my car is the daily commute and its sure as socks see full boost on WOT on the way to work where necessary(traffic is for townies lol)

so yeah maybe this tune wouldnt be for me :( its a fine line to walk, it only takes a long fourth gear pull at a overly lean spot and your in trouble.

id still feel happier knowing that the car is running mid to high 11's rather than even consider playing in the 12's!

it depends on what u consider full boost
my full boost daily on my Greddy turbo is only about 11psi because my engine is high compression and the water/methonol isn't currently running

i would agree that anything over a bar probably best left in 11 AFRs

look at it this way, my bone STOCK 5e (5efe pistons and rods) has been running with the stated tune for a while now with no ill effects, and that is alot more prone to detonation which is really what we are trying to balance with power here

that being the case, a car with lower compression than mine should have really no issues with my tune........it also depends on the quality of the tuner and the equipment available to use, i tend to datalog often and make small changes at a time which is the best way to creep up on the perfect settings, if u have to pay a tuner for a one time tune it is best to air on the side of caution

Just to bring this topic up, with regards to afrs on a stock 4efte running a td04 at 1 bar with hdi fmic and an hks fcon fuel controller, would 12 be ok or should I aim for 11.8?

This is on a daily driver, with a good engine with 164-167 psi compression on all pistons.

if you have the choice as fur says over 1bar, aiming for sub 12 is a good idea.
11.8 i believe to be ideal on Full boost WOT. but if your finding it hard to keep the tune at a constant AFR then err on the side of caution, its only logical.

hope that helps Pav.

Thats cool man, makes sense to me :)

I guess it depends how both my fuel and boost curve turn out. If theyre both very linear and smooth, then I could err closer to 12, but if its uneven, I can tweak any of the 9 fcon maps fueling by upping the fuel pressure very slightly :)

if u dont have a gcc u will have a hard job to get a good tune on the f con mate

I've got my eye on one right now mate :) Very tempting, I think its either this or going on track at llandow. I'd rather have a decent fuel map tbh!
