Td04 1.5 bar. What to expect?

WOW, this thread has turned in to a full on debate lol All i wanted to know was how much of a difference to expect when upping the boost to around 1.5bar or so. In an earlier post at the start of the thread i did mention that i was not concerned about figures but more concerned about how it goes on the road. I also said i would be HOPING for 290 which i don't think is outside its capabilities.

@phil- chris is taking the water meth with the car as its not setup yet although it would be something i'll consider after i up the boost a bit. I would deffo favour it over upgrading to a td05 as i'm a big fan of the responsiveness/power of the td04. Also you mentioned about needing good fuel, i'm guessing super unleaded will do the job at that kinda boost? Would never even consider running it on normal.

On that particular engine, I'd think Super will require alot of timing to be pulled for it to run 1.5bar, possibly so much that would make it pointless. The water/meth injection would help with the det though.

My own engine although mapped to 1.8bar on super, seems to run alot better at 1.4bar due to the amount of timing required to be retarded for 1.8bar.

if u insist on thinking a td04L will run 300bhp please show me proof of a td04L running 300bhp on a 4E starlet i wanna see Dyno graph and torque figures and none of this u can run Race fuel this that the other its about keeping inlet Temps down!! bla bla

you could go for 1.2 bar , im sure youre not at the limit yet. you need injectors tho for any more.

Aye Chris will know the score, I'm only guessing. You will get more power at 1.5 even with timing pulled, I only really meant if you had an injection kit or different fuel you would benifit alot more.

What have u measured to obtain the Engine Compression????

as for the calcs for again you can ask chris if you want to pm him instead of me :haha: but then since you sound like you know what your talking about im sure you dont need to read any formulas from textbooks or internet sites.

since you seem to spend alot of time awaiting responses maybe you could scratch your oh so wise balls abit harder and give us some of this evidence you must have somewhere that 300hp is impossible on a td04.

im pretty sure spuddy could knock it out of his motor on a td04, and im sure a smaller cc bike engine could knock out 300hp on a td04. so it would seem that 300 and td04 isnt impossible at all if you use the right engine?! wait a second have we came full circle??? you mean the engine does matter? holy smokes go figure.

I agree with Chris, i dont give away info on my own findings.
No point in doing all the leg work to go and spoon feed someone else it for them to reap the rewards.

Im sure Chris and Co will soon show if it can be done or not.

My own TD04 starlet is great, proven it passes 330hp Starlets on track

whos to say that engine will take more boost?try and see doh. and if its achieved then fair play it can be done..but to the rest of your reply mate,wat was that all about. i dont no you or many on here.me i drive a 94 gt,not runing anyting worth talking about,just a we hybrid on std engine.

Yea it really is pretty funny. It's gone from how will the car go on the road when I up the boost, to no way will this car make 300hp on a td04 blah blah blah. As mentioned I'm not chasing figures but if it makes good power i'll be happy. Time will tell though.
