td04 @ 1bar just not enough!

TD05 16G@ 1.8bar is all you really need for a fast daily driver. Lag is NOT an issue once you set everything up right. Make SURE and keep your timing on the 4E marks.

TD04 was fun at 1.5bar but can in no way compare to a well set up TD05.

When it comes to power, there is no such thing as enough! Your power for the boost does seem a tad low to me though.

up the boost to 1.2 bar the stock engine can take it, though the stock gasket may not.

if you havnt done already then use a mls gasket, and 1.4bar with a decent tune will be reliable on the stock engine, go for a 1.4mm thick gasket though just to lower the compression a bit.

I am still thinking of what to do lads. I changed my spark plugs, dizzy and rotar arm, had to make a few more earth cables for the engine. and the engine did seam to pull a wee bit better. but i am unsure if i can aford a forge build. as i will need brakes too!

I have just been taking the hit and making the 30mile roud trip for v power too! been doing it for a good few months... and when i can be bothered i make the 60mile round trip to

I think my engine is getting worse... if she passes the compression test i will be going to perforemance hq to get it remapped. 1.1bar on v power... i will be wanting 235bhp+ but i dont see the engine getting good compression :(

my bf's first gt when he was 17 was 239bhp and 223ftlbs at 1.1 bar on safc, he was bored after a week, then ran 1.4 bar, then went and built a turbo eg6 lol build a boosted b16/b18 civic and sell me your td04 kit <3

btw arnt starndard headgaskets good for 1.2+ bar? 1.1mm when compressed arent they? ive heard athenas arnt really everything theyre cracked up to be but a few people i know with good mapping have made over 250 on a standard 4e. athena make bores for mopeds and theyre shite cmpared to polini haha

Aye mine is td04, 236@1bar on wallaces dyno. I could be wrong but I think the dyno at HQ could be a heartbreaker :haha:
A figure improvement on what you have would be good but there's lots of factors to take into consideration like intake temps on the day and what not. Chris stewart made something like 176bhp on his hybrid at 1bar but on the road it goes Bloody well, gives me a good run for my money! It was about 25deg outside when he got it done though, dunno if high intake temps might have effected the figure?

Correct, the lower the intake charge the more ignition timing can be added. It's not really the AFR that makes power, rule of thumb is for every 7deg drop in temp peak power will rise 1%.
Also take into account the turbo's efficiency and that pumping air is a friction property causing heat. So outside ambient temp may have been 25deg, but inside the intercooler pipes it may well have been around 70-80deg.

This vid has a good bit of info :)

good advice AdamB :) it was a fairly hot day when mine was mapped. the plug and dizzy change made a improvement. sometimes my car pulls very well torque steers all over the road and you an just watch the speedo... and it puts a smile on your face :) and the next time...just no :( it feels fast but not fast enough

not only air temp but you should take into consideration spark plug heat range, ignition timing, exhaust pipe size, manifold, air filter and most importantly fuel octane rating.

Haha I know what you mean, you're probably just use to it! It's maybe time to start saving pennies for a forged build!?
Dunno if the dizzy cap and rotor arm made a difference but I changed mine about a month ago and went in today to get my fuelling and map checked, leaned it out a touch and made 244 at a bar :)
