On the dyslexia point, my brother is dyslexic and is often a lot more conscientious about making sure all his spelling is correct than I ever am, even when writing text messages.
I think he's like that because he doesn't want to protray himself as stupid to people who don't know he's dyslexic, equally so it's not something he feels he has to tell people.

That is so true. Im dyslexic and I always find myself re-reading everything ive typed! I have major problems with grammer overall (not good when your writing a theses..believe me!). So in some cases it can't be helped but the majority of miss-spelled words on this site are due to pure lazyness. I hate txt speak, I find it takes me longer to read/decipher then if the person just typed it properly:) and Corey on that "wiv" and "summat" thing, thats accents coming through into spelling which is a pet hate of mine. We know where your from, form your location thingy, no need to emphasise it!! Its not cool....just annoying:)

text speak takes you longer to get your point across in the end as some people refuse to read it and others can't make out what it said so you've got to re write it all anyways.

The thread topic spelling is something I've often made a mistake with but since you can't edit it once posted it gets annoying, usually because i check the spelling in the type box but not in the title lol.

you can. Either just double click beside the thread title (not on the actual title just to the side of it) in the forum view and you can edit it. Or go back and edit the original post and "go advanced" and you can edit it :)

One thing I do on occasions is put a capital letter after a comma because my English teacher in year 11 told me I was wrong for not doing so, so made it a habbit which is a bloody silly one lol as it's so wrong.

i hate txt speak, there is no need any more as most texts are free these days. so you can take up as much room as you want! And defo no need for it on a forum!

best one has to be brakes. as in

' thinking of upgrading my breaks'
' need better breakes for the track'
' my breks are squealing'

so many endless possibilities!

everyone seems to be in agreement with GV1.3 first post so im not really looking for anyone to agree with me so im just going to add my opion and leave it at that.

is this really that big of a deal? if someone uses a couple of abbreviations to shorten words or a sentence what difference dose it make as long as it is understood. we are on hear to help one another and enjoy the site. i personally think this is an absolutly ridiculos seen as after all it is a "car forum" not a "grammer forum" & to go as far as someone saying...

.."is it really that difficult to write full words? If you cannot be bothered typing the full word why do you expect anyone will be bothered typing a response!"

seriously...? so you really feel just because a fellow member has not wrote a word in full or a sentence using abbreviations that they should not recive advice/ help! that someone should not be bothered writting a response.

This isn't just a UK forum and alot of members are from abroad where English isn't there first language/still learning it in some cases so it makes it harder for them to understand.
