Anyone got a pic of what that diagnostic box looks like ! my motor is a transplant not too sure it would be in the same place ?

when I time up the 4e engines I dont go by the 0 mark on the crank pulley I always take the pulley off & use mark on the inner crankshaft pulley (the pulley the timing belt actually goes round) as in the manuals iv read & autodata iv got it says to line that mark up & the zero as if its right it will be on the 0. This way you no you have it spot on & cant be a tooth out. If you do it properly then there will be no error

but what if the belt was put on at say 1 degrees, not lined up to 0 on the pulley (looking at the marks youd have to be blind to not line it up but..) Could you still set it to 10 degrees with the rotor, would you have to set it 9 to compensate, or am i just talking bollocks?

you guys have it all wrong cam timing and ING timing are difrent things . ur cam timing is set with marks on the pullys ur ING timing is set using the light i might and its a big might be able to put a guide up l8er lol tho ur going to have to rep me for it lol

cam timing is set with marks theres no o u just line up the marks . the 0 is when the engine is at tdc u dont use that mark (well i dont any ways) to set the cam timing . ill see what i can do i gota do a clutch and fly wheel then ill see what i can do

From autodata (4e engine) You remove the pulley with the 0 & 10 marks on it its the inner toothed pulley which has the marks for the cam belt which you need to line up when timing up the engine for fitting a new timing belt, the outer larger pulley is for setting ignition timing (the one with the 0 & 10 marks)

Im abit lost. I cant find marking for the pulley as the belt comes in the way!

Theres small grooves on the pulley either side of the belt mark them with tip x, no need to take the belts off

Tru says its is simple but had remove coolant bottle/washer to get good look at it. Down side is the gun is expensive!!

How often does the timing go out?
checked mines, it was set to 0.
