Exactly that my loverrrr! I would be banished if anyone was to find out! - I went through a long process of removing the password + removing the Virtual CD it loads so that now works on my pc but the internet's gone gay and not working on the ubuntu now damn it!

remember to go in to network connections and edit your connection and set it to auto connect or you will have to manually connect it everytime.

Yeah sorted that I think the problem with the dongle is that I removed it while sorting out the hdd and when i plugged it back in it wouldnt recognise it so had to log in to windows, use net, restart log in to ubunto so it finds it then save, hopefully it'll just work everytime :)

Seeing as you'll blates be Rapidsharing soon I'll tell ya how to get un-raring files. The built in Archive Manager won't unrar files so you've got to do a bit of fiddling. I read around and some people over complicate it massively.

Just go to System>>Administration>>Synaptic Package Manager and enter your password in. With this window open go to Settings>>Repositories and tick "Software restricted by copyright or legal issues", click Close.

Then in the quick search box type "unrar". Find the one that has "non-free version" in the description. Click it, mark for installation then click Apply along the top. Then just right click your .rar files and "extract here" and it works.

Was annoying trying to get it working and people are suggesting using commands in the terminal window etc. etc. Bleurgh

Installed this last night and having a play about with it now. Completely got rid of XP I really like it! A big thank you for bringing this to our attention, I probably woukln't have been tempted to use this otherwise. It's going to take some getting used to but I really like it.

A couple of questions though, some videos in youtube can be a little bit choppy at times. Are there any updates that may cure this as they ran fine and smooth in XP or could that be my graphics card?

Also I've installed Wine as suggested, does that mean I can install any windows program now or will I need another app for that? Rep for Sheldon and gv1.3, thanks guys!

not really sure about your youtube problems. I was having some less than impressive graphic experience but I went in to hardware and enabled the ATI graphics driver and it works great now.

I have to admit that I have never really done anything with wine as there is usually a native linux application that does whatever I need. The documentation for such solutions can be a bit technical so have a look at this, it should answer a lot of your questions http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/wine

You are welcome for the suggestion :) Make sure you tell everyone that will listen :)

I am going to put it on my parents netbook when I am home.

I already have told a few people, my mate is giving it a go on his pc. I told my Mum and she asked if she could get it on her laptop, I then remembered how long it took her to get used to using a mouse so I don't think a new OS is a great idea for her!

Still astonishes me the load up times are so quick with no fuss like windows.
