Booted from CD fine. Just running MemTest (which is already on the disk! Good thinking) as I've been having memory troubles on this PC before when WinXP was on their. Might have a faulty stick. Looking forward to using it though!

been using this for over a week now... transformed my laptop! much much faster and smooth!

i love it! everything i used to use on windows i found it on this or replaced it with another software that is good or better.

ubutu software center is great! work very similar to an iphone haha.. search for software and just install! im sure more software will be added during time..

best thing of this version is.. switch you computer wait a few seconds, when you see your desktop you can start using anything you want without having to wait for software to load etc..

also look wise is great.. themes etc... also you can ad a dock bar like on a mac.. (when i tried this on window it used to use a lot of memory!)

i went from dual boot to lucid lynx only.. thats how much i like it. :)

Looks lovely, where is the background from Sheldon? Is it already part of the OS's themes?

Grr I hate my PC. The Ubuntu installation hangs at 33% of partitioning. Think there's something wrong with one of the components. Before with WinXP it would sometimes format the HDD then BSOD at the actual installation of windows or let me install windows completely, then BSOD whilst in windows! Ghey.

run it all off a USB stick, should work fine then. Might be a bit slower bit if you are having HDD issues it will stop it crashing.

WOW! OK using this now on my PC and everything has been going smoothly! Which suprised me! Installed various progs that I use (Spotify, VLC) and found a good little prog called FatRat to manage my Rapidshare links. So far, so good!

I'm still playing around with this, and it is bloody excellent! Few small issues, such as getting Photoshop CS3 working but GIMP isn't a terrible replacement! Not had a single slow-down today, normally in XP there would be any number of things that would make my PC hang. I'm liking this so far, liking it a lot!! Thanks Dylan & Sheldon for posting up about it or I would have never bothered trying it! :)

PS. FatRat is excellent. Was using FlashGet download manager & FlashGot FireFox plug-in before. With FatRat you just paste your links in and off it goes!

glad its working Chris. I wish everyone would give these operating systems a try. The more people use them the more development will be done on them and apps will be available.

I would say that for 95% of people out there everything they will ever use a PC for is included in the base install of this operating system and it is a simple install.

Yeah, apart from gaming this has everything covered for the average PC user. Social networking, browsing, photo editing, watching videos, etc. etc. I'm loving it! lol

Took me a while to get this working (dual boot) It got to 83% and just hang, so after an hour or so I restarted it, unfortunatly this resulted in only windows 7 remaining on my pc and half my hdd disappeared so had to format and install windows 7 and ubuntu from scratch! Seems alright only problem is I don't have the internet yet (using a donge) it doesnt seem to recognise it, anyone know anything about getting drivers for it? someone told me about a code but meh!

Hmmm...not sure. I plugged in my Belkin USB wireless dongle and it didn't even need a driver, just popped up with what networks were in range within 10secs. Amazing!! Also automatically downloaded my Nvidia gfx card driver. Clever stuff.

Hmmm strange, I think it's because the dongle I have is recognised as a storage device on windows, then it installs drivers and becomes a modem, where ubuntu see's it's a storage device and just stops there! =(
