at the end of the day we all pretty much now the speed of a corsa VXR... Stock would be similar to a stock starlet, i would of thought the extra HP would give it a better top end pull say after 100MPH.... Same sort of thing though........

Certainly not lighting and even with 230HP, would be quick dont get me wrong but a 200HP starlet would show it a thing or 2.

Saying all this, i do actually like the look of the cars, i haven't yet experienced one yet though.

Glanza's and GT turbo's are animals when tuned just like the VXR, but you're advantage being the weight to ratio factor. As i do own a 1990 starlet with carb corolla engine i know how light these things are. I know one lad who has a Glanza running at 180 BHP here i carrick-on-shannon with a scooby turbo. bet many of tuned Glanza's, stock vs stock and corsa would leave it sitting.

i would strongly disagree with the comment about stock on stock the corsa would leave it standing........... But hay.

And you say "your" advantage being power to weight ratio when you actually own the starlet to? So its also your advantage.

I'am only saying that i've left many tuned ones sitting....I have great respect for the starlet...like i said i own a non turbo modded one. BUT i am aware that if heavily tuned the corsa would be left sitting.

Corsa vxr would probably pip the starbo to the post.

But the fact of the matter is that most people on here enjoy owning a gt/glanza because its DIFFERENT. If you wanna be mr joe bloggs with his brand new vauxhall that his parents bought for his 18th then so be it!

JDM baby

I've seen more Glanzas/GTs around than the new Corsa VXR! :teach::haha:

all this talk about torque?

Put a VXR corsa up against my EK9 and i will give you my car if he can go anywhere. In fact i will give you my car if i dont pull on it.

Stock on stock im on about..... You do NOT need torque to go fast, just alot of revs with a light shell and alot of BHP does just the trick......

Im not soo clued up on the cyborgs but my point is just because one has a turbo and more toque does not necessarily mean it will win. Unless it had pots of power more....

Oh I agree,
I just sold my EK9 as i was very dissapointed with it.
An EK9 will not piss all over a Corsa VXR, but it will probably stay with its a standard VXR. If its remapped to 220bhp from the dealer....I doubt it.
Them EK9s are brilliant handling cars though, but even my 1300 Starlet feels quicker. You cant drive them EK9s around town at 6100 revs as people will laugh at you if your not arrested first. (thats how many revs you need before they are any good). I have more fun in my Glanzas and even my Remapped Diesel Fabia VRS, which has loads of torque and leaves the EK9 at anything over 60 MPH. Yes a bloody diesel Skoda!!:(
The CYborgs competed with the Civic Sir about 15 years ago. The EK9 came along a little later, but its simillar but more hardcore car.

im sorry but in my opinion you have no idea what your talking about.

A skoda diesel leaving an EK9 after 60MPH???? Are you having a laugh? There must have been something wrong with your EK9 mate.

I find it great to drive around town and you dont drive around town at 6100RPM do you, you drive normally(as your supposed to) like any other car, and if there is a nice bit of road you can use the Vtec all the way till 9000RPM...

At the end of the day its a complete matter of taste as i personally love the car and its one of the most fun cars ive driven and ive driven lots and lots of cars... Great handling/comfort/responsive feel to the chassis, safe and its a dam fast car for the road even standard, reason why i think there was something up with your EK9.

It is certainly faster then a standard starlet i can garentee you that, quite a bit faster especially at higher speeds.... Obviously not a tuned starlet, but saying that gaz's 175BHP starlet could not shift me at all, and 4th gear onwards the EK had more guts.....

And i was referring to a stock corsa VXR not a 230HP mapped one as thats "tuned" not stock.

LOL
I knew you would say that!!

Over a ton the EK9 is quite gutless....honest. I had one remember! A Skoda Fabia VRS with 185bhp and 295lb torque is going to beat a 185BHP EK9 with a 120lb torque.
My point is that torque IS important, thats why the Starlets are so much fun. In fact I reckon a standard Starlet Glanza probably has more torque than the EK9 too.
Does anyone have any figures???
