I don't always look at suggestions as to why people did not put down their car is theoretically capable of as excuses. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons.

Professionals who build cars for the drag strip don't always run the times their cars are capable for a whole host of reasons.

Be it not wide enough tyres, incorrect gear ratio's, whatever. So, in some cases there really are reasons as to why you don't get the times your car is capable of, but in our cases, ametuers who's cars are not specifically setup for drag, need to do the best they can with the setup they have and accept the times they put down and shut up, or go all out on a full drag setup :D

not you again :p

see what your saying man but if you take your car to a dragstrip it gets the time it gets excuses are excuses. If you dont want to get a bad time dont run your car. You could have 1,000,0000,0000000 HP but your car might not be any good on the dragstrip. You dont see them on "pinks" saying "you aint getting my money/car ... I lost but my car is really powerful"
If you lose you lose. If your car can hit 300mph over a 20 mile stretch of road then build a 20 mile drag strip :) on the qtr mile your car gets timed over a qtr mile.

Like my car would probably be shit on the drag strip but if it was I wouldnt make excuses or say "well its good on a race track" if its good on a race track take it on a race track and prove it. Dont really know how to explain it any better... its like a formula one driver losing and saying "but my car would beat you in a drag race!" it doesnt matter you lost in the race that you chose to run in,

LOL :p your following me, i know it! :shoot:

no no, dylan, i completely see what your saying. But if you build and have a few goes up the drag, and perform not so well or unexpected times there may be good reasons. And those reasons may not be exuses but important factors that need to be said otherwise undeucted people in this subject may say what a waste of money. All that money and all he can get is **** time.

My best time on my starlet was 13.2 but that was with no LSD and 175 budget tires. Just on good tires i would bring that down half a second or so. That doesnt mean i wasted money tuning as something so simple like tires was the reason.

reasons shouldnt always be looked at as excuses.

fair point. I look at your starlet build and its plainly obvious that car could put down incredible times. What I mean is that if we raced against each other and I won... then I won.

If you learn from what is wrong with your car and come back next time and lay down a great time then thats cool but on the day a race is a race. I mean I could say "my car would have beaten yours and would have done a 11 sec pass if I could just get around to dropping that rotary into it" hehe.. have seen some threads on here before by people saying "my car will be 400bhp when its finished" etc (Im sure you have seen that thread too a while back)... that shit annoys me... let the car speak for itself once its ready to.

And for that matter it works both ways... those lads in the video obviously build their cars for outright power which is cool. But if they say "I have 800bhp therefore my car would whip anything on the drag track" then they would be talking out their arse.

dylan, i completely agree dude.

If somebody beat my arse on the say then fair play to him! Although i was annoyed once when i was up at the strip in my starlet and i raced a pug 106GTI, tweaked up to the nuts running mid 14's, and i flew off, he neat me off the line and i waited to catch him and hit stupidly low boost as a sensor on the 3SGTE kicks in when it thinks its getting hot! literally halfed my power and he kept pulling on me and i only hit 15.6!!! :p i was

Its all pub talk at the end of the day!

Yeah thou's civics have got huge amounts of power but how usable is it on roads or track, Dean's 106 has huge power but spins in every gear! Id personally rather have a 200hp starlet that could use the power both on the road and on the track!

you can put the power down you just guta get the rite mods

I agree theres a couple of vids of my car on youtube, one of them I'm running 1.1bar and all u can hear is wheel spin and the limiter and see alot of tyre smoke. The other vid I'm running 1.3 bar and don't spin at all.
