x2. and I hope not! Modern hatchs/cars are too dam heavy anyway:( I got my GT bone stock from Japan with 40,000kms on it. It felt brand new:) I experienced the same rush you describe when I drove mine for the first time, I remember I picked up the car on my way to work and the first chance I had to open her up was going down the ringaskiddy road...smiling ear to ear for the next week:haha:

If I got a chance to buy a new one..i'd take it in a heartbeat:) As said above about 16k!

i want that experience. brand new one. feel the original power it was meant to have. fully stock. maybe a few rare extras like sunroof etc.

how much did it cost with that low milage?

i love the enjoyment the cars can give, but for me im not happy if all is not well financially.

i would hate to owe money on a car so the new price of a ep would mean that if these were availible new id be the guy at the meets in a 4age turbo kp60 asking why you paid 13k for the new heavy fwd version LOL

buts thats just me.

tommy/sigma, i have to say i agree with the bit about likely the mystery of the cars life in japan. my car had endless problems thanks to me tuning it fairly hard, but it amused me to think of the nice happy life the car had stock in japan in yester year not knowing what someday would be its fate hehe

it kinda makes me sad 2 know there will be nothing like these cars again...looks wise. the 80's and 90's brought us cars that we drooled over and had many a sleepless nites dreaming about.. unfortunitly the world is goin forward and not back and in time all these cars will be a distant memory...

on the money. There are not many cars I look at now and think "Id love one of those" but back in the 80s and 90s they were everywhere!

I wouldnt buy one new now. The starlet only interests me as a tuned version in all the right places, mainly chassis. To buy a new one would cost ££££ and you would get it stock.

As a stock car it feels slightly tacky and cheap compared to other cars imo. Saying that i havent driven it when brand new, may feel completely different. A starlet it grand "for the money" in my opinion, and has plenty of potential, easily. Thats why i like them.

This topic reminds me of Trevor's first GT.

Probably the UK's first imported EP82 as it was a 1990 imported in 1991.

There's plenty of guessing on the original prices so I'll confirm them for you all:

GT Hatch FF AT Gasoline 1331 4E-FTE E-EP82-AGPQY $10900

GT Hatch FF MT Gasoline 1331 4E-FTE E-EP82-AGMQY $10300

Would I buy one?

Well given the choice of a GT next to any of today's pisspoor supermini's it's a resounding FUCK YEAH.

Thats less then I expected!!!! They would have sold well if they were sold in the uk/europe/Ireland.....delighted they were not though!!!:):p

Super Mod (極度の調整器)
Modern day equivalent would be the Fiat 500 Abarth (which, incidentally, I was sat in at the dealerships 2 days ago). Obviously, you can see/feel the difference in a 21/14 year-old design, but if I went back in time, I'd like to think that they would command the same price as they're both of the same ethos.

I do have to say though, it did give me the horn, especially in Esseesse form...

I wonder if, 21/14 years ago, the GT/Glanza would have done the same? Hhhmmm...

This topic reminds me of Trevor's first GT.

Seeing this really makes me miss my first mark1 GT. It was stock apart from an air filter and blitz dump valve. I have yet to see any new cars that pulls my heart strings like the GT. IMO the Glanza was the beginning of "cutesy" starlet design...the Vitz became a car for women. But just look at that GT! We will never see them made like that again.

I think Toyota has really lost it with they're modern cars. They look terrible in my eyes and they just seem to have gone all sensible. I'd hate to think what they'd do if they brought out a new starlet, they'd probably f*ck it up ........just like they did with the mk3 mr2, mk1&2 really wicked looking cars, then the mk3 ...pffft what a wet looking piece of girly shit!

If it was the same spec then yeh I would consider a new gt certainly, but too many covers ontop of covers, to protect another cover in modern engine bays!
