Which Oil Filter?

I've always used standard Toyota filters - changed every 5000 km.

i use either a geniune toyota or PE filter, have used both sard and TRD before but as a one-off.

Every genuine one I have used has leaked, utter toss. The £4 ones from the motor factors do the job fine. Don't see the point in £30 Power Enterprise bollocks, same as I don't see the point in 2000 miles oil change intervals, waste of money. Unless the car has just been rebuilt obviously.

ive always had genuine ones on the turbo starlet and motor factor ones on the runabout. never had any leak problems ever!?

i had 2 and both leaked badly. Fucked them off and went with motor factors and all was good. Maybe I had 2 from a batch of bad seals, who knows.

used toyota and champion filters but i was changing my oil every months because of the mileage i was doing, cant fault them really, never found anything on my magnetic sump plug so cant complain.

gonna start using an upgraded one as i will be doing fook all mileage and i do like the idea of a thicker casing so might start using a TRD one.

Does it make a difference on how often you change your oil to what sort of filter you use, also is the filter type relevant to the engine type. I.e. standard engine would use different filter compared to a forged engine??

i might try that. as the car tends to only come out on nice days i may start using a better filter. ill finish using the genuine filters i have then swap to a trd or something. possibly pointless but its not going to cost me alot as ill only be changing the oil once a year unless a make any modifications that mean an oil change is needed

No one said you need to change oil every 2,000 miles, I think it is 3000? If you don't understand the need for more regular oil changes on a turbo charged car you really need to do some research. Even more so if you are using cheap oil or non synthetic.

i always use aftermarket ones just the blueprint cheap filters £2.50 a pop! with a magnetic sump plug. i change them often does the job for me

just get ADL BLUEPRINT filters identical to stock, and only cost £2 or the filters dave b uses.

and sam toyota say to change the oil every 3000 miles for a reason.

and i really dont see the point in spending £30 per filter for a TRD or POWER ENTERPRISE one, whether it's magnetic or not and all the other spiel they give you, at the end of the day it's no better than an ordinary oil filter, a normal filter wont let any more shit than one of these so called "performance filters"

wouldnt matter, whether its forged or not, oil and filter will still need changing every 3000 miles.

and as stated the "performance filters" are no better than normal standard filters, they just cost a lot more.

aye i cant see any difference in the filters to be honest, just a fancy gimmick.

why would any piece of metal get threw a filter that the metallic piece would catch anyway? it would be stopped by the filter before.

ive never had problems with the adl filters
