everyone seems to be doing this now :p

I would like to see how it turns out built by that company. How they do it, the quality of it and how it holds up.

When its all built up, its really worth it, trust me. The has soo much bloody power throught the rev range its near enough impossible to find other cars around that would actually pull past it.

And that was only with around 300bhp..... Looking forward to the day mine is back on the road built up on possibly a GT30.

a supra TT is not even close to the speed.

To give you an incite its equivalent to a friends friends Evo with 500BHP. and thats when i made 289bhp/310lbs of torque @1bar boost.....

Although im using a Motec ECU which does wonders to the overall perfromance of the car. The torque throughout was incredable. Not much matches... Its like a V8 low down, soo much response.

By 4000RPM i was producing 265lbs of torque and around 230hp from memory. Not bad for a car that weighs 900KG.

Motec's are the nuts mate!!! Everybody who i know has one rates them very highly!!!!! :)

I would love to go out in your car mate just to see what its like!!!!!!

I think you wa very unlucky for your turbo to go at just 1bar mate
but then i guess they are over 10 years old. Mine is running 1.2 and its been like that for a few years now.......but i guess its luck of the draw.

dude, my car run beautifully for 8 months running 1 bar never skipped a beat... I ruined my engine/turbo when i fitted that stupid side exit exhaust on it! Blew when i was boosting to 1.3bar! without a map! lol.......

The engine and turbo loves 1bar, higher then that normally causes trouble, 1.1 max i'd say.......

Well unfortunately she not well as i would gladly take ya for a spin as your only in essex.... Next time shes on road she will be running silly power.

I know what you mean mate, when i got a de-cat pipe fitted on mine the boost it produces does shoot up!!!!

So you getting your engine rebuilt then??

The standard engine (rev3) are good for about 350 safely, but yeh the turbo are no good after 1.2bar!! I have run mine at 1.25 but the guys on the rollin road said all the temps went high as the turbo is running out of puff.

Good luck with the build mate, i cannot imagine what it will be like at that power through the front wheels!!!!

I had 450fly on my old mr2 and that would light the wheels up in 3rd gear on a straight dry road!!!!!

yeah rebuilding on a GT30 or even a 35........ probably a 30 though..........

Well at 300Bhp and 175 tires used to spin in the dry through 4th gear on a striaght sometiems lol.....

With good wide tires the performnace is incredable. Biggest mod for it lol. No joke.

450hp, that must of been fuckin mental too!

Well good luck with the conversion bud, will have to hook up one day when they are both on road.........

But the tt would be no where near as quick!!!!

And you cannot beat the look on peoples faces when you fly past them!!!!

Maybe in some applications but the supra is better allround as it has handleing to match. Not to mention just being a better quality car. Not to also forget it has more potential.
A 3sgte starlet is something special but i know what car i would rather live with.

lol, live with? Hes on about building a track car not an everyday run about.

Handling, Well you obvioulsy havent been in an extremley well set up EP as you would seriously change that comment. They can handle amazingly.. The supra is one huge lump of lard!! only useful for dragging... Not nimble enough..... Not saying you cannot make them handle but the EP will have a HUGE advantage in weight for the corners.......

Potential, LOL.... Put 4WD in along with a 3SGTE and tune the bollox off of it to make 800+HP weighing in at only 1 tonne or under.....

I would say over all for a track car the starlet will have more ALOT more potential, dragging i'd say they could be very evenly matched with a 3SGTE lump in place.... Were talking of soo much money here though on both cars....

Build quality now i 100% agree with you there as the starlet in my opinion is a tin can comapred to other cars, especially a supra lol.

It all adds up to a big headache tho. epx5 running gear is to weak gt4 running gear how can you make it fit? As for handleing people are going to have to start excepting the facts a starlet doesn't have anywhere near 50:50 weight distribution and doesn't have independent suspension the wheel base is too short and the track is too narrow. If i was gonna choose a track with this sort of budget it wouldn't be supra either tho. Probably an evo.

I'd like this thread to concentrate on the technical side of the conversion without straying too far off topic.

Cheers in advance,

Jay

as said, the best way to do this conversion would be to use the celica running gear.
I have thought about it, and talked about it with somone i know that builds rally cars. and there is one way of doing it, but you will end up spending lots of money.
