beacause it broke my heart, left me in broke every weekend, out to 4 in the morning working at it,and near reduced me to tears at times, why let some1 else drive what i busted my balls and worked so hard for?
fuck that.

I do agree chap, but what about if it went overseas say to england? and you wouldnt have to see a local fella driving it around?

ive taught about it alot..still think about it..for me as alan said,id rather drive my parents car most of the time,i step outside the house and look at the starlet and think "fuck if im driving that, couldnt be arsed"...not in the humor for it

ive spent the last nearly 4 years fucking around with it and to this day it still doesnt go 100% they way id like...at this stage i think im waisting my time, life goes on

and like johnny says staying in at the weekends, for what?getting tortured by the guards for a hobby?

If your gonna break, i'll buy it :)

I sold mine for 5k and bought it back 4 months later for 5k because I missed it too much, especially getting done over by stupid cars when I had my S3 and I would think, if only I had my GT now....

Ive spent a fortune on my GT since I have owned it (4 years) and agree that even with my mere 230bhp but I'm making 1.3 bar at 2900rpm its undrivable as an everyday car its far too demanding you cant just go from A-B simply, thats why I got a second car an A3 TDI which does 50+mpg and use the GT when I want to not when I need to go somewhere, its a great way to do it if your in a position financially which allows you to.

i got offered 15k about 3-4 months ago for my car! thats probly the best offer ill ever get an people say sell it etc for the simple reason is i just couldnt bring meself to it,id have to look at the wee fecker every day an no doubt abuse the hell out of it. crash it or change stuff etc. i deff would rather break the car or if it was going overseas id sell as 1 if the money was right

I hate seeing people break their cars, especially cars that i have followed, checking updates on this site.

I fully understand that you can get more money back from braking all parts than you can from selling it as a whole as people dont want to spend 5K+ on a starlet, highly modded or not.

What worries me the most is that i have been building my own car over the last 5 months, that when its finally finished that im not going to be as satisfied as i had hoped, like an anti-climax.

Usually i am very good with money and save over half of my pay package a month.
But when my engine gave up and i found inspiration through builds on here i thought fuck it, do it properly and dont worry about money.

I hope to god i am satisfied with it

im similar - I totally adore having the eunos in the garage, knowing its tucked up warm and dry and that its sat there waiting for a nice dry day, and I have to thank my parents that im priviledged enough for them to still have me at home, and have the yaris as a 2nd car.
BUT... cant beat staying in all week saving up for serious debauchery of a weekend :D

good point, but he could fuck it up and you could buy it back for fuck all, lol!

ah,its hard to beat having money for pints and a night out and not spending it on a car.

I understand why they break for more cash that is obvious but what confuses me sometimes its only a couple of weeks since they finished it why is this?

I sold mine 5 weeks after as I had simply exhausted things I could do to it and felt id 'perfected' its look, and had ran out of budget. I saw theee gt4 and that was that, it was upwards move time.
I think 99% of us here are born to modify and change things, its in our blood, so when we can no longer modify something we get itchy feet and need a new project.
Its why I love the eunos so much too - ive changed its style about 4 times already, and will probably continue to do so for a long time to come

I would break my car if i had to, not because i wanted to.

I would rather not sell it to some spotty oik or some chaved up ned, and see it abused and wrecked.
Same really if i were selling it, and somebody come to see it, if i didnt like my first impression of them, i would tell them they are wasting there time and i wont sell them it. Thats just me though.

im going to stop when i start to not enjoy driving it to work.

work has got to come ahead of my hobby as it pays for it.

whats quite interesting is the different ways people go about building there cars, slowly with small budgets or all at once going into debt, or a halfway house of some debt and some capital.

and then the ways the chooe to rid themselves of the hobby, breaking the car to make back the max money or wanting to see he car looked after by someone else/or quite the opposite enter johnnyC.

meh makes me wonder will i want to sell come the end of next year or break>?

why would you want to sell it phil?
i just couldnt live with seeing some1 dog the fuck out of mines if i sold it,and id never get back near what i spent,so thats why it would have to be broke,or else tucked away.

I'd say my wee car will be around for a very very long time, got the next project lined up for when theres nothing left to do to the starlet :p

I made my mistakes when I was younger with debt, everything I've ever done to my car hasn't included credit cards or wotnot.

My ideal garage would have my Starlet, an MR2 a GT4 and a Supra, all tasty power :)
