for your ps3 you must of had a screen that was hdcp compatible the bandwidth is totally different either you have a converter box to convert the signal or like i said a compatible screen thats hdcp which converts it for you

ive just checked out ebay listings and are very misleading only found 1 with warning please note check description you will see what im on about

that ebay link has me confused, i can't fathom out how that HDMI to VGA lead would work without using some kind of hardware converter? HDMI is digital, VGA is analogue,

DVI to VGA only works cos DVI carries the analogue signal too. but i'm sure HDMI carries no such signal, it doesn't need to or have the extra unused pins like DVI does.

the cable will have the standard xbox connection on it you will then just go into settings and up the res to whatever your monitor is capable of

Just get an offical XBox VGA cable.

Its around £15 from gamestation/game/etc and comes with audio splitter to connect to speakers.

The games will look alot better and sharper, with no "lag".

That could be the case I guess, I didn't have a convertor box I literally done dvi to hdmi on ps3, if I can dig it out I'll try with my xbox, not sure about the hdcp thing though, how would I check that?

yeah id say if you typed it into google you make and model of the screen something will come up for it

as stated abit better than i did dub7 has it down to a t, hdcp is the only way you got yours working without a converter box i have so many cables lying around that are useless ha like i said before ebay is still very misleading

Your correct buddy, just googled my moniter and in the spec list it has.

http://www.philips.co.uk/c/pc-monitor/23-inch-w-e-line-1920-x-1080-full-hd-231e1sb_05/prd/

DVI signal input for full HD performance with HDCP

High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a copyright protection system that is incorporated into the DVI connector. It helps stop unauthorised duplication of copyrighted content. HDCP allows you to play protected content media such as movies and concerts. It checks the signal to prevent piracy, allowing only legal copies of content to display.

Sorry to sound misleading if your monitor doesnt support hdcp mate, I just assumed as it worked on mine it'd work on yours :(
