When you rebuild you ALWAYS replace bearings all pistons and rings and check the head and block. Than once rebuilt and running find what caused in this case cylinder 3 to go.
To be honest just sounds like you've been skimping out on doing time consuming stuff and costly stuff and simply have not repaired the cause of the problem.

its the same on every car forum, ie on this one,if you have a starlet they are the best thing in the world, and asoon as somone says somthing bad about them you all gang up sayin its due to how its been treated prev etc

the same on the saxo fourm and gti fourm, ive been on them all and its exactly the same

Timmy-who said cylinder 3 went this time :s it was the gasket

thats because it's true mate ;)

there reliable cars otherwise.

whatever ever car you get if you abuse it it will break.

it's not hard to understand.

if you fix it with a half arsed bodge, it's not gonna last long.

and winging about it isnt gonna fix it either.

you cant say all starlets are unreliable, because of so many variables.

i've never heard of n/a starlets breaking mainly because only granny's and grandads bought them.

i have seen plenty of bmw's blow up aswell and break down and there renowned for there reliability.

your car isnt tuned properly, you've never had it tuned so how do you know it's not that that has broken your car?

it's not the cars fault

becuase gav, when you bought it it was tuned for 1bar on standard ct9, and the fact it broke so quick suggests it wasnt tuned properly.

you then stuck a hybrid on and ran it @ 1bar, so this means the tune was defo not right.

point taken, burn it is the best option i think now :)

lol

you could always strip it down, least you'll get some money back.

hutch is looking for a block.

loads will buy the hybrid and fmic.

exhaust will sell instantly

you have a very rare gi bonnet thats gotta be worth a small some

tell you what i have seen,on ebay there is a basically brand new rebuild engine on the for 550

have you seen it

looks good

yeah seen that looks pretty good.

if you were to get it though, before you fit it, do a compression test first.

and if it has been rebuilt you cant rag it for 1000 miles.

then either find someone who will tune your engine management, or get something else like a s-afc can pick them up for like £50
