im an organ donor, would love to give some1 the gift of life when i die. its a really wierd subject a lot of people i have spoke to about it have said they would give thier organs but wouldnt give their eyes. really strange!

you know what when i just filled the form in i almost un clicked "eyes" just felt weird about it for some reason but then my voice in my head said leave "all organs" ticked what use to my dead body is it just having eyes ?

Some people are 'funny' about the thought of the heart or brain going too.

yeh i suppose so, i don't think i'm afraid to die, i'm curious to see what comes after even lol but i don't think i'd refuse if i had to make that decision, but each to their own

i just think you live and then you die, simple as that. you are born with what you are born with. if you get a disease and die or an organ fails or you get hit by a bus, then that is it, game over.

I'm on the register to donate an organ and I'd also take an organ if it was needed.

I see how upsetting it would be to familys to know there childs body parts are being harvested after they've just lost them etc.

But then your already dead so you wouldnt need the body parts so I'd rather know I've saved someone elses life with mine etc.

Reminds me of the film Seven pounds...

(Hope the above makes sence I'm tired as hell)

It is abit harsh how you have to decide/discuss so soon after being told heartbreaking news. But they need to keep the organs alive as such dont they?

I guess thats why they urge us to discuss these things with our close family members so if that time ever comes they know how you felt about it and wether or not it was something you wanted to do. Even tho we all think we are invincible :)

God forbid,
If my son died I would want all his organs to be harvested if it meant another parent didn't have to go what I was going through...

i got a form in today about this, dunno wat im gonna say yet

i think i would not take an organ unless i was on the register to give 1

but then if some1 in my family or close friend needed a transplant and i was the only person available then yeah i would

many different views on this tho:confused:

to the people that have said they wouldnt want to give/recieve an organ if you have/had a child that's life could be saved by an organ would you sit and let them die or let them take the donation?

i believe it strongly enough that i would not want them to take a donated organ, but as my girlfriend would say the opposite my decision would get overruled so makes no difference.

I guess so but at the same time I guess you'd have to be in that situation as I'm sure the love for your child would be enough, If my son needed a kidney I'd have mine out in an instant... not that mine are very good lol.

would make no difference mate. i know its hard to understand, i get shit from the blokes at work because of my beliefs but it doesnt bother me. they just find it hard to understand.

i dont have a child, or would ever want one anyway so it makes no difference!

i could elaborate more but i think i may offend some people

exactly mate. im not christian so dont celebrate anything christian, dont do christmas, easter etc etc. there is a bit of a limit as my work wont actually let me work christmas day unless i go in for free, which is just plain pointless, but i cover callout which is the best i can do ;)

i would go to the extreme of not following the calender as the year we are in is based on a point in time to do with christianity, but that is unfortunately something i dont think is actually viable as i would not be able to live if i based everything on a completely different calender and date to the rest of the world :p

like you said, some people are easily offended and some of my ideas on life and death are a little extreme for some people :slap:

Lol to some you may seem crazy but all sounds Sane to me! Are you religious in any way? (I myself don't have a religion or plan on having one)

I think its quite shocking how many ppl would take someones organ for them to live but wouldnt offer the same kindness back.

My uncle is a Jehovahs Witness so his religion would not allow such things and a blood transfusion etc but he has admitting to me that if his children needed one he would allow them to have one as he loves them too much. We all have our own limits and opinions dont we.

I actually feel quite miffed that if anything happened to me my organ could go to somebody to save their life and if anything happened to them they are not willing to donate theirs on to give somebody else the same kindness. Im not digging at anyone as i respect its peoples own choice.

i myself am not a donor, as that with so few donors if your in a car accident and left in a coma, as soon as the doctors find out your a donor they are quicker to turn off your life support. theres been many reported incidents like this throughout the uk:eek: . but if every1 was automatically put on the register this sort of thing would not happen.

Once the scientists can grow body parts, life will get a bit easier for people needing life saving transplants, some parts are already being developed and tested.

Greddy heart anyone, can handle up to 400bpm.? Power Enterprise lungs, 35% extra capacity!
