Crap, the block needs to be notched using when using pauter rods on a 5e? Thought i read somewhere it wasn't necessary.

Mate, my 5e had to be notched to fit the pauter rods. i fitted them without notching first and crank wouldnt turn over as there was an obstruction. so notching is a must with pauter rods.

Aye mine needed notched with 5E pauter rods. I think in the 4E it doesn't need notched with pauters.

I just built a 5EFTHE and these are the rods i used . they work great but i spinned a bearing but it was the tolerence on the con rod bearings and the thrust bearing that was off .I bought a brand new crank from toyota and i will be using a plastiguage to measure the right size con rod beaings:)OH and you might want to use a dremil to notch the block because they is alot more to be taken off than on the 4EFTE.
