Tried driving it for a bit mate?

Sometimes it takes a few miles before the ABS system clears out the fault codes.

Unplug the battery and plug it again - start the car, drive 5 miles, turn the engine off and back on. If the abs light is still ON, then you need to replace the abs sensors! They are not very cheap, so you can try a brake yard!

Tip - bad battery can cause ABS problem!!! try to use brand new battery for a day and see if you notice any changes!

You change the cv joints recently? If you have both sensors giving codes, could just be the abs rings, I had the same problem. New sensors are about £110 each from Toyota, but if you are having both sides giving codes its a bit of a coincidence.

I had the same problem on my old Starlet - that was a bad connection!!! The abs was on for a day, then off, then on again for some time! I found that If I put some water on the front wheels drive for 2 miles, restart the engine - the ABS will be OK for a few miles! Another thing that helped was changing the battery and blowing the dust off!.

Make sure the ABS rings on the hubs are clean as well. Resetting the battery does not make any difference to the ABS system. You need to run the diagnostic, and run the reset. Drive for a bit then see if the codes and light come back on.

Yeah it will be a problem with your rings not the sensors. First just check you have the toothed ring on the cv joint, as non abs cv joints dont have the ABS ring. If this is the case you either need to get new cv joints, send the old ones back or swap the old Toyota ones to the new hub.

If you do have the rings on, you can swap over the old Toyota rings. They take a fair bit of beating to come off, be careful as the metal teeth can be damaged easily. Once on just clear the codes using the pump pedel reset sequence, then drive for a bit, try it a couple of times if it does not reset at first.

Also just compare the old Toyota rings with the new ones fitted, if they are not identical then you may have the wrong rings on. I had a problem where the supplier had issued some CV joints with wrong size of cv joint rings.

Where did you buy the new CV joints from? Did you specify ABS CV joints?

Just swap the rings over, hopefully you or he still has the old Toyota CV joints?

You cannot buy the rings from Toyota as they come on the joint only (which is sold with the driveshaft).

Dave B and Camskill sell the correct CV joints with rings if you need to go down buying new ones again.
