right i have tried all the other guides on how to stop the fan from running to no success! so i have all these plugs and not been able to stop the fan from running! i also carried out a diagnostic test and it came back with 22 wich is coolant temp sensor! open or shorted ciruit! i have been told its to do with the AC removal! they also said to plug the AC sensor back into the 4 pin plug by the battery!
this one. but i dont have it. it was binned long ago!

Mine did the same mate I plugged the sensor in by the battery an it's fine now! I suggest trying to get 1 of the sensors from either on here or Toyota, should only be a few quid!

As trickie said, get a sensor or bridge the connection and the fan will work as normal.

As for the other connectors, dont worry about them, tape them up.

Code 22 is indeed the Coolant temp sensor, but it has nothing to do with AC removal.

The coolant temp sensor will be goosed, but thats not your problem with the fan.

Can you throw up a pic of your wiring at your thermo housing?

coolant temp sensor cant be goosed it brand spanker! ill got take a pic of thermostat housing at the moment!

by the way you do know that the engine is from a 98 spec car! (my old V that got smashed!) which is now installed into the 95 spec quadlight using the 95 spec wiring loom! dont know if that will make a difference!

there she is! as it stands my thermostat housing! i cant see anything that has been missed! as far as i am aware i have all the correct sensors and the correct thermostat housing! to convert everything from a 98 spec to a 95 spec! as the wiring loom requires! so why am i getting the fault? and why is ma fan still running! Grrr.

this may sound silly but was the knock sensor plug reconnected when the engine went back in.. its at the back of the engine underneath inlet manifold.. (this has nothing to do with fan been on constant)

the third picture above shows 2 connectors and since its a 95 loom one is for high/low switch.. the other may be for knock sensor.. as for fan problem i cant help you there mate... i dont know why but i have a feeling this is why your getting a code but maybe not.. the knock sensor is easily over looked when replacing engines

where abouts is the knock sensor? i will have a quick look with torch if you think that has been missed! i also took spark plugs out and they were covered in black sooty type stuff whats that all about?

you will have to jack up car.. its located at the back of the engine on the block.. there should be a plug and wire goes from there that joins back into the loom near number 1 injector.. its the only sensor there on the block.. the car is running badly so that why the plugs are dirty..

is it not visable from top? as if this sorts the running issues out i will leave the fan on constantly to get it through MOT and for now untill i get what i need!

Bill.

yea i know mate i not booking it in yet still other work to do on it. lol but if that solves my running issues then i shall carry out the other work then put her through MOT see what happens! it cant fail an MOT because the fan is running constant can it?

Bill.

regards the fan keeps working when removing ac are you talking on a GT engine or from a Glanza? as i think that no modifications needs to be done if ac is removed from a Glanza, correct me if im wrong as i will remove it soon too

(went fishing all weekend!) now its back to getting the bloody thing running properly now! i have check the know semsor on the back of the block and is installed properly! so what next! it gotta be something to do with code 22! which relates to the coolant loom! i think!
