Apexi S-AFC2

After my recent faults with taking the car 2-3 times to get setup and being told it was incorrectly installed etc and starlets ecu doesnt have a throttle cable (according to the apexi manual) when it does ...

Ive finally managed to get it installed correctly and seems to be working fine. Last time i was at the rolling road, Alan the technician explained to me ... my S-AFC2 thinks its adding fuel but actually isent .. so we had in mind it could be a faulty unit.

When i got back down the road, i upped the fuelling to the max system of 50% correction i think it was, left the car running for a while and then took out the plugs ... they went from a nice shiney brand new set of plugs .. to black i.e overfueling.

Is there anyway at all i can tell if my unit is faulty? It seems to be adding in more fuel, but when on the highest setting its not cutting out or the engine tone isent changing, when i was told it would.

Im really in a pickle about it and the next closest RR is hours away.

Any help would be a help :)

i think there the ones that apprently mess around with the signals to the ecu ? i dont know the exact reason but im sure ive read a post about it lately hopefully someone a bit more clued up could help you out, maybe try search too?

is the FCD wired in after the SAFC? i.e. between the SAFC and ECU
It shouldnt really affect it though as the HKS FCD is a clamp device so it doesnt mess with the voltage until it gets to the set level....

I have a HKS AFR also .. so could that also be affecting it possibly? Im going to give my RR technician a call and see what the script is.

your wrong fella the hks fcd is a resistor type and messes around with the signal, you would be better off getting a jam fcd or a greddy bcc these are clamp type units.

sell all the electronics, and buy a greddy emanage unit that would be the best option and will stop all this messing around.

Straight to the point, love it haha

Im not going to spend the money Ricky on an emanage, this means extra journey to get the car mapped from the current RR i go to as they recommend Power FC's and i simply dont have the money currently for a Power FC, hence the S-AFC2. The S-AFC2 does everything i need it to.

oopsie daisy.
Shouldnt matter tho anyway as long as it's wired in after the SAFC (therefore not adjusting the voltage going into the SAFC)

Surely the HKS AFR is doing a very similar job to the SAFC? Perhaps they are mucking each other about?

thats fair comment fella, it might be worth investing in a different fcd then, i would recomend the JAM fcd or the Greddy bcc, toby has a second hand greddy unit for sale for £40, might be worth a shot.

my tuner said that my fcd is messing round with the signal that the safc sends out but managed to tune it ok, although if i get to 1bar boost before 3500rpm i hit fuel cut.

Thanks for the info Ricky. I think i will try another FCD then.
