kelly is your headgasket problem sorted? what gasket did you use? did you do anything different this time?

the k24 gt isnt sorted seems the whole dodgy gasket did some damage in there and think the head now needs skimming and going to have to see if the block is ok too.

Ordered a cruise gasket this time.

Well just to update people on my situation since this thread has poped up again.

After all I decided to go with the Speedvision headgasket on my build, finished the running in period (1000miles under 4.5k @ .4 bar max) and have now done around 500 miles at .7 bar on a TD04L with a dyno run of 150whp with no problems yet (fingers crossed).

Happy with the product Sam @ SPEEDVISION and its done its job fine so far. :)

Will report back when i get a couple of k on the clock.

Sorry to bring back a thread from the dead..

Ben,

How is your gasket going then, any problems? Also, it is a road car or have you taken it on the QTR mile or circuit since using the SV headgasket?

Also, can everyone who is running one of Speedvisions headgasket with NO PROBLEMS post here and let me know the turbo and boost your are running? That would be really helpful...thanks.

Also, I must admit I am thinking of changing the gasket as some have had problems, but before I make the decision, are there any procedures or checks that I can make to ensure the gasket is holding up OK a part from a sniffer test?

Thank you guys.

I never realy had the chance to put much stain on the gasket as iv only done 2.5k miles @ 10psi since building the engine. I ran a couple qtr mile days at this boost level making 150whp without any problems and my car is a daily runner.

Unfortunately i have just had to take the head back off due to a sticky valve, so iv stripped the head down for a quick clean up and rebuild, probs stick some uprated valve springs in aswell while its appart.

Regarding the headgaskets, when i removed the head the other night the gasket still seamed to be in as new condition as it was when i first put it in 2500 miles ago. When i come to build it back up i think il be going for another Speedvision one as they seem decent enough and in my eyes up to the job. I dont understand why so many people are having so many problems with them.

Why are you worrying about removing the head and replacing the gasket Gee, when youv had no problems running the power you are for this amount of time on this gasket? Do you not think you could end up creating a problem?

Has any one compared like for like the Speedvision gaskets with any of the uprated items? Pics? Materials used in each etc

Hi GT Ben,

Thank you for the reply mate, it's good to hear that it has been holding up just fine.

To be honest, all the negative input and experiences have put doubt in my mind. So, if the headgasket is holding up, I have no leaks etc, is there really any reason to worry?

I'm no mechanic you see, so just looking for advice mate.

Cheers.

i dont know why guys like you Gee get influensed by other people and their expiriance ! I have no side in this argument to "damage reputation" of some sellers (speedvision in this case) everybody know that even if sometimes you buy the best of products you still can get a failure or you could get a cheap thing and last you a life time (that is called LUCK) as everyone was saying it could have been a whole lot of things that was the cause or behind the cause of the gasket failure not excluding the gasket itself but exception is not the rule and from what i read from the thread the gaskets speedvision sell are prone to failure as much as all other different brands! Its not like all his gaskets has failed so i dont see why all this drama about 4 or 5 failed gaskets!
