breather filter size for rocker cover? rep added

i always use these ones on folks starlets http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIPERCROSS-Pe...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb902488b
cause u usually find that u get oil residue threw the cheap ones cause they don't have a a meshed/filter inside them if u buy one with a rubber neck they slip strait on the rocker cover with a little bit hose slipped up the inside of them
or u can use the new style one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PIPERCROSS-Al...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27bb97647d
that have a metal bottom and join it with a little bit of hose

Better if you get an oil catch tank for the breather, with the filter on top of the tank - this way it will keep all the bad stuff inside the tank and the filter won't get very dirty.

oil catch can

@Paul_JJ: x2 ^^
get a catch can mate, even if it's a custom one like mine.. :p
it keeps your rocker cover neater/cleaner as the filter can at times let out coughs of oil..

and this saga continues......... so many have different ideas and till now still dont know whats the best setup to do it

I have filter on top of rocker, and not once has it spat out oil

same here. i have seen plenty of oily ones ones on starlets so i decided to go with a stainless gauze filter when i fitted one to mine so i could clean it. it is still spotlessly clean with no sign of anything oily at all!!!!

Putting a breather on isn't really bad, it still lets the pressure in the crank case vent so in essence it still helps...however, with a catch can, you actually "suck" the excess vapors, moisture and gunk buildup out keeping your oil cleaner and longer. It also catches excess oil that is shot up through the crank case and rocker cover and preventing it from re-entering your intake system.

Heres some test evidence of the 2: http://www.importtuner.com/reviews/impp_0810_oil_catch_cans/index.html
