If you were covered for the hours when you were driving then there is no issue, you should not have to pay any fees either.

The officer shouldn't of impounded the car either, although you SHOULD of had the print out of the confirmation with you. The insurance company should have been rang by the officer for confirmation.

If they are trying to charge you then thats basically fraud, dispute it and go through a small claims court or something.

They probably won't take any trade policy since most of them state for motor trade purposes and this isn't really. If you want someone else to pick up the car for you using their insurance you'll need them to go with you and produce their insurance and driving licence. It doesn't matter if the cars not insured as long as the driver is but bear in mind as soon as the insured driver gets out it better be on private land so no stopping at the shops !!! As far as I'm concerned you should be able to get it out with another 1 day policy.

I'm in Scotland thought so there's a possiblity we do it differently.

Well i got two slips, one a copy of producer and one copy of sezuire, Its the 1st tick box no insurance at the time (some thing like that, miss placed the dam paper some were:homer: )

had to get full insurance and cover note faxed over! Got the car out, had to pay £150 in charges, which i would claim back!

Make sure you claim that back dude, what a waste of time.

I take it your going to cancel the insurance now? They only charge about £25 to cancel anyway, so you'll be okay if you do that.

Is he trying to give you 6 points for no insurance btw?

piss take you should have fought him at the road side he was obviously on his high horse. atleast you got the car back and dont forget to claim the fee's back mate! dont let them get away with this i would also take the time to write a complaint about the officer.

What options do i have to take it out? E.g can i ask a trader (friend), or my cuz who covered 3rd party on it.

Errr why did you let them take it away, they tried to take mine away as they said it had no insurance according to their information, but i told them to jog on and that i was insured and they have no right to take my car from me as i have the option to provide my documents. So they gave me a producer and that was that. You have you rights just because they are the law does not mean we dont get a chance to prove.

If i was you i would print off the email that day insure send and go down there and kick up a fuss as they did not give you the right to produce and tell them you wont pay a penny(just check with the CAB first) but yes i would.....

I will, i make sure! I had it cancled the same day lol, Safe geza didnt even charge me cancelation fee:)

Well i asume they accepted my 1day cover letter. No reason why it shouldnt, i was legit so i see no point of giving me 6 points!I will fight it and ask for compenstation if they do!

the cops like it when you give em some suggestions

brings back memories of the time when i said to one of them "whats the problem" he thought i said "whats your problem"

Well I learn something every day.........................Didn't even know you could get a One Day insurance cover. Can you let me have the details of the insurance company for future reference please.
