origonal solenoid has been removed adam, got the connector there still tho...

paul, manifold 100% no issues there, we have the knowledge its something electrical, too do with the ecu rather than a mechanical fault.

tryin too establish what tho, we are going too take a look at the wiriing etc around the cluctch pedeal/normal ecu too see if any issues broken wires etc

you were on about code 34 fuel cut do you have a fuel cut defender or just emu or both i have emb and fcd aswell maybe the emu doesn't do fuel cut im not 100 percent sure electrics aren't my strong point hope ya get it sorted

emu does do the fcd mate as i had it removed upon fitting of the emu, only thing i can think of is the wires have come apart, i know down my the clutch there not looking too great like there compact where the fcd was wired in.

so thats ny next plan too check all that

is removal of the dash board etc hard?

thanks

Dan I would rather look in to your EMU wiring area. It's got to be something related to boost to give you code 34. Dashboard - not hard to remove, a bit time consuming.

Going too check the area safc an fcd was fitted for damged wires etc see how i get on. Any one kno what colour wires etc is what?

Thanks

You wont need to take the dashboard out to have a look at the ECU plugs.

Sounds like the map sensor wire could possibly be broken a bit. I know if you pull the plug from the map sensor when the car is running it will just die.

When it cuts out does the ECU light on the dash illuminate?

ive had a quicvk look myself but everytings so tight an doesn have no movement too manouver them atall, rory when it cut out yea the engine light come on, the other time i thought it was going too die, it coffed an splutted engine light came on then went off again an drove normally?

ive been told that area where safc an fcd was fitted is linked with some of the fault codes ive been havin?

like map sensor, coolant ,fuel cut?

Only bit of the dash you will have to take out is the panel below the steering wheel. Removing the whole dash wont do you any favours. :)

Yeah you really need to do a quick continuity test between the ECU plugs and the map sensor. Easy to do aswell, just time consuming.

Who took the FCD and SAFC out? and was the wires resoldered?

a mate of mine removed them for me mate, an re soldered them i belive or re joined them. they were very short thats all i rember the prat who wired in the fcd origonally cut them too close too the plug.

what do i have too do too do one of these continunity tests rory?

i dont know whats what on the ecu plug itsel?

i thought maybe by removing the dash will give more access too the complete wiring an maybe allow me too tidy rest of it all up.

ive never removed it before so no idea what im doing lol

thanks

Ah sounds like my old loom, previous owner had cut the wire to close to the plug and was bascically useless!
You will need to get yourself a multi meter, and a length of wire. You will also need to get yourself a pin out diagram of the ECU plugs (can be found in the helpfull section on here)
Then using the multi meter and length of wire see if there is continuity between the pin on the ECU plug, and the sensor itself. Easier to show than explain really!
If you know anyone thats handy with electrics, he will know what to do.

As for the dash, it can be a ballache to come off, but even still it doesnt give you much more access to the wiring. I know what you mean though, i managed to tidy mine up pretty good after sorting the mess out previously (my back didnt like it though!!)

rory ive had a look but cant find this ecu pin out :( any links mate? my mechanic is going too do this continuinty test for me he understand it etc, but the ecu pin out would be help too know whats what.

yea im hearing all mixed things on the dash lol some people say its a peace of piss others sayin its a right bastard lol, its just so awkward too get too that area leanin under an with the side of car diggin in ur side lol

See the link above the Muzzy has posted. :)

as for the dash its time consuming more than anything. The annoying bit is the fact the wiring loom is attached to the rear side of the dash.

Whip the front seats out, at least that way theres a bit of room inside the cabin instead of hanging out the door! :haha:

Quick run down as i dont have all night :haha:

Remove all the heater controls, stereo, handbrake surround, gear stick surround, glove box, panel below the steering wheel, steering wheel, speedo cluster everything else that can be removed for space.

After that its a case of finding all the screws/bolts and start removing them. I cant remember where they all are though!

After that its a case of giving the dash a quick tug (ooh err) and seeing where the loom is attached etc etc. Like the front speakers and random switches, gauge wiring etc.

Bit of an over view, but if i wrote it out the way i remember id be here until next Tuesday! :haha:

update - got dash out pretty easy, thanks god lol, spent to day checking wiring etc, heres what i found,

firstly the ignition harness for the emu, was only wrapped round where it shud be wired in an taped, not connected properly an was easily moveable so possible conenctions issues there, so re done that with propper connectors.

where the safc an fcd was wired in, they were a bit hit an miss some were very badly done so we re done them aswell.

continuity test seemed fined no incosistency, but gave us the chance too tidy up the wires either way.

another thing, i was told the emu map sensor should not be t peiced in with the oem one, so we plumbed that intoo the inlet on a diffrent vac pipe, an also was told too have it facing upwards? is was horizontal but was told vertical is best for it? any confirm this?

thanks for all the help so far lads
