A friend of mine has one, few have had them in the past.

One mate had a 172 Cup that he stuffed into a hedge going down some B roads round my way (Gower Peninsula) and although they do handle very well and have shit loads of power, the Cup versions have very little safety features (Less weight - Only difference with Cup and non-Cup) which made the car very lairy to drive. Dont think it had traction, abs etc...

However my other mate has a 172 non-cup with air con, traction...Spare wheel  etc... and she loves it!

Very quick cars, but ultimately French so wings are plastic, build quality isnt amazing and pretty much identical to the 1.2 but with some styling add-ons and a whacking great 2.0 up front.

I'd have one as a track car, but I dont think I'd have one as a daily. For the £4000+ and insurance group you could buy a much nicer, better quality motor. e.g. Integra Type R, Civic Type R, S14, Skyline, Glanza, BMW etc...

I used to work at renault aswell, i'd get a cup personally, make sure things like cambelt has been done i think book time is between 5-7 hours if im correct im sure chris can clarify that, service history and mainly the plugs as there abit of a pig because you have to take the inlet mani off to get to them off otherwise nothing really goes wrong with them:)

X2 altough like any other car check it hasnt seen a track in previous years as these cars are built for the job (especially the cup) and if it looks thrashed - it probably is
