difference in flywheels?

Lol here is my reason for asking:
I bougyt a supposed c52 gbox of a mk2 to fit to my mk1. Evrything lines up perfect and bolts on. But when we started ber up there was a horrible gri ding noise (metal against metal). I asked around and only answere i got is that the GT as the same flywheel as the 1.6 toyota corrola and it seems the gbox i bought works on the 1.3 corola flywheel.
Bear in mind here in Namibia we struggle to find parts for the starlet so some guys mix and match toyota parts. So i think the guy i bought the gbox from had fitted the 1.3 corolla flywheel and gbox to his mk2. Alot of guys in South Africa do this to.
