dizzy caps

i understand that on the early engines the dizzy caps were boot type
and later were clip type

but are they interchangable ?
ie: can i swap a boot type for a clip type

or maybe change the whole distributor

yes but your leads wont fit, unless you have the right leads to go on which ever cap you buy.

You will need to change the leads, cap and possibly the ignitor unit (can't honestly remember but I think it's different).

i have got hold of another engine, but it has a boot type dizzy cap
my original is a 95 spec and has clips type all round
didnt really want to buy new leads, if they can just be swapped over

the idea is to rebuild the original, as its starting to blow a bit
the replacement allows for use of the car and gives me more time to do the rebuild

might as well stick a 1UZ-FE in it then
