yes mark quite a bit, currently just trying to nail down a place to stay as i want to get close to where im hoping for the job.

cheers lad!

Good good! You'll find the wages to be quite agreeable in Perth, but the price of everyday items such as food, coffee etc might give you a fright... When you compare GBP (or yo-yo's for that matter) to AUD, it looks pretty bad, a cup of coffee in OZ can cost about $5.50, which works out at £3.75!! That does NOT mean that Australia is expensive however... They have a strong economy, whilst the UK is weak. The prices in OZ have been the same for a long time now, the only difference is how much your GBP gets you when you go abroad.

It's all relative at the end of the day, what you earn in OZ will be relative to prices out there. Perth is especially affluent, and wages are higher there than anywhere else in OZ. Hope you like sun and air-conditioning, you're going to be seeing and feeling a lot of both!

thanks mark, and cheers for your input! Yeah it will be hot,but a few cold beers should help, lol! My only major concern is the tax rate on a whv, know a fella out there on a similar wage to what I'm looking at,and had paid 17k in tax last year, only got 900 back! So I just need to look into that a little more.

Don't go on an emergency tax code, you'll get raped. Get it sorted ASAP, and register for tax as soon as you arrive. You can claim tax back, but can only do it at the end of the tax year, by requesting a tax summary. Nice when it comes through, but you'll be needing it when you get there, not next April...

As for beers, try Carlton Cold... Goes down a treat! Just avoid the weak ditch water that the Aussies drink in the day to avoid being over fuelled... Can't see the point!!!
