More than likely your cables need replacing mate. They can then be adjusted when new ones are fitted.

Also, dont open another thread up with the same question. Someone will hopefully reply asap.

Rear brakes are a weak spot on these wagons mate.

You could find your handbrake cables are worn after so many years in service, certainly wouldn't hurt to treat her to some fresh ones but it sounds like you also have a sticking caliper to take care of first. A set of new (non-genuine) cables is around £50 from a local motor factor.

Replacement is usually cheaper than repair with secondhand units usually under the £50 mark, overhauling a caliper can sting a bit more than that. I'd recommend sorting the caliper out first then you'll see if your cables are due replacement.

No, it will be fine. I ran mine around with no handbrake for about 7 months. Had to replace the cables, calipers, discs and pads after my handbrake was mush. Easy enough to replace. Have a search around for a second hand set of calipers and rebuilt the ones you take off so you have a spare.

Try the cables first and see if you can loosen the sticky caliper, may well need a rebuilt.
