Hi there!

After MOT and fitting my coilovers and having my wheels aligned etc I've been noticing a very strange clicking / knocking noise only when the steering wheel is straight. First of all I thought it was the cv joints - I've had the car checked over by a mechanic and he seemed to think it was either the transfer box??? or a faulty driveshaft pretty sure the garage in question 'mared the job. I'm skeptical though as there's never been any reported transfer case fuck ups as they're pretty bulletproof? The constant clicking noise only happens when I'm in gear and accelerator is depressed and the wheel is straight but it sounds like it's coming from behind the dash drivers side...

Any ideas lads? Cheers! :)

If the steering alters the noise I would check the cv joints. Have you checked underneath yourself? Transfer box is strong, you be doing really well to break that.

Yeah CV joints are fine and as are the driveshafts! There's no noticeable oil leaks from the transfer box. The noise only started occurring when I got my car back from Wallace Performance who carried out the alignment when I had my Meister's fitted, and they're the garage telling me it's probably the transfer box or driveshaft when they're the one's that have 'mared it in the first place, all was well before I put it in for alignment

I've launched mine in the dry countless times. There's no way they could break one doing alignment. Unless the mot had it on the rollers doing the brakes and didn't realise it was 4wd.

My thoughts exactly, but I no longer actually trust the garage in question so I'm going to get a second opinion, just so strange it happens after alignment which was 2 weeks after MOT when the coilovers were fitted. I put it into the same garage as the previous owner had it in for MOT before so they knew the car well and know it's 4wd, but on the off chance it may have wound up the diff? Worst case scenario what options do I have if it is the transfer box?

Alot of bad thing being said about wallace now. Had planned for them to map my car. but no way in hell are they getting near my 5e now. Not a chance!!!!!!! 4wd starlet in deen? Hmmm would love to see this out at tsg cruises sometime:)
