Erratic Idle

Hi, i've been having this issue since i got the engine fitted in to my car. The cars runs fine i don't have any issues but this is really starting to annoy me, the problem is that i've never had a good clean idle in this car is always like jumping or skipping something, also my engine sounds like a diesel engine. I was checking in the internet and some of the answers that i've found that this could possible be valve adjustment, i'm going to upload a video on youtube with the idle so you guys can hear and help me.

Heard a loud worse buddy, not much I can pick up from the mobile playback. What is the rpm needle doing?

check your valve clearances, maybe needs new shims

The rpm sits fine at 900 rpm.

What are the shims?? i'm just not used to that term.

Just a spot of over fuelling? Mine popped and banged a little once the exhaust system was on too.

i was thinking about that because my fuel pump is from a vw passat 1.8t, maybe too much fuel pressure???

Does it smell of petrol? when u blip it in neutral does the rpm die to 500 then bounce back a few times? If so check the hose on the map sensor

It smells a little petrol in the engine bay, but when i put neutral it stays on 900rpm.

Nope, is a 95' mazda 121 db "bubble" car.

It runs fine, i don't feel or hear anything unusual when full throttle.

IMHO If it was his shims, would'nt he have poor acceleration in addition to the erratic idle? Seems more like a faulty tps as he's saying he accelerates just fine.

Correct me if i'm wrong... but doesnt a faulty TPS produce a bucking action (during revs both in neutral & in gear) ... effects similar to a broken plug wire ... ??
