Gearbox rebuild

My gearbox crunches when shifting into second gear, i want to rebuild it, cause my mechanics says it is the syncro.

What parts would i need for the rebuild?

Please any traders out there pm with the list of the parts and the price shipped to seychelles island?

Second gear synchro is common - bit tricky pulling the gearset appart (a press helps).

Could be dependant on how good your tools are and if you have access to a press.

Once its fixed you'll know the condition of the box rather than second guessing a 2nd hand unit

hi guys im in the middle of a re build on my box at the moment try toyota for the internals they are reasonably priced and my dealer had the parts in stock.

@ graep91: i concur. if you look at the long-term benefits, you are always better off buying genuine parts (even if at slightly higher cost) and having peace of mind and reliability for a long minute after that. all the best with the rebuild.. :)

every box needs examining when open, most likely syncro but check all bearings for excessive play and check all gears for teeth that are cracked chipped or broken. its not as hard a job as its made out to be

i'll be cracking open my box soon.. wish me luck.. :D
it's not crunching in any of the gears but it's developed a massive leak on the co-pilot transmission cup seal. i'm suspecting a worn bearing that is giving that cup excessive play which is then constantly ruining the seals.. :/

Keep us posted on progress buddy, would be interested to see what tools are involved. Wouldn't be anything to do with the five wrecked gearboxes lying here lol..

let us know wa type of puller u are going to use for the gears

got to do some syncros and bearings in my oem lsd box
