gearbox removal

Just wondering if any of you guys have removed a gearbox while the car is on a two post lift. And wether or not you used anything to hold the engine up? Or will the left hand engine mount hold the engine well enough on its own?

No you will need something to take the engine if you remove more than 1 mount

You could use them bars that go from one end of the engine bay to other, I'd anyone knows what I mean... And ten you wind it up and it will hold thd engine.. They used them when I was Toyota. It saves taking engine out.

I think its going to be a case of using two gearbox jacks. One two hold the engine up and one to remove the gearbox as it looks like its a heavy old lump

Gearbox from a Starlet is nice and light, should be easily manageable between 2 people.

Yeah the autobox is far heavier, its a brute

car up on axel stands, jack under the engine (if jacking on the sump put a bit of wood inbetween) engine crane and chain abound gearbox... push, pull, shake and jiggle....boom.... box is swing from crane there is a guide if you have a look in the helpfull info
