Hand brake dash light coming on... but the hand brake is off...:(

My hand brake light used to come on under hard braking after i fitted my wilwood kit, and it is getting worse by the day. it now comes on in gear changes and light braking... i have not had a look at anything due to it being stupidly cold and raining outside...:(

Anyone tell me what this might be as its got me fairly stuck...

your brake fluid is low. if its slowly getting worse then you most likely have a leak somewhere. top it up for now until you get a chance to look at it, but look at it asap!!!

Check the switch under the gaiter mate. Might be coming off or already come off, could be earthing out against the metal under there.

My brake fluid is at the minimum, I have looked every where and i cant find brake fluid....:(

The hand brake light does come on when the hand brake is on

possibly master cylinder. the fluid will probably be in the servo unit itself. my mini did it, and had to take the servo off to drain it.

The brakes still work fine, The hand brake light still comes on when the brake is applied. The fluid has now been topped. I did have the wheels off at one point and think i seen something dripping from a brake line but it seamed far to thin to be brake fluid and it was raining outside so i put it down to that. I will take her for a drive 2moro and see what goes on

If the brake pads are getting low that would make the level of the fluid drop down. Brake fluid is only thin its not like oil and can be washed away with water.

The kit has not been on long at all and there is still plenty meat left on the discs and pads, I am just hoping that i have not damaged a brake line :(

the shell has 154,000 the rear brakes are fine mate, I have ask Iain at crd if he can get lines made up from me.

i topped up the fluid last night and the hand brake light has ame off and stayed off

If the level has dropped - it's not good! You might have worn brakes somewhere or a sticky caliper. Topping up the brake fluid will not fix your problem.

Never top up brake fluid!! Get your brakes checked. Either a leak or low friction material!

Funny, I have the same issue, comes on with hard braking, i just thought it was the lever lifting when the cars inertia was changed under heavy braking, must take a look at the brake fluid now, but im sure the level is fine last time I looked.
