handling comparison GT vs Glanza

That's what I do. Break things..

Meanwhile, back on topic. Toyota offered ABS right from the word go (EP82 launch Dec 89) but due to the increased focus on safety in later years you will find it in most Glanza V models. The V still had a non-ABS model so please don't think anything is wrong if you don't have it.

Another side note is that the EP91 rear axle is slightly wider than the EP82. The front hubs differ as well.

Did hardcoreep not have a video of a stock glanza vs stock GT round a track by best motoring or similar and the glanza was actually faster round the track....

re

so what exactly is is that makes the poor handling? suprised there isnt no wide track versions out there which would improve the handling

Rear beam axle as opposed to independet suspension is probably the main issue.

Its becuase the suspension design is crap. Remember at the end of the day the starletr was designed for granny's to do their shopping in. Then they decided to add a turbo lol.

The front suspension is OK, but the rear is utter crap with its trailing rear beam. They should have fitted IRS to the starlet off a corolla or something. Apparently the starlet's sister car the daihatsu charade has IRS.

Even with that though its off the mark when youy think of the Civic and MX5 which both have double over wishbone suspension, Is why civic's and tegs can be so damn fast around a track.

I find it excellent for doing the shopping in. :)

Yeah, the rear axle is what let's the whole show down somewhat. It also kept build costs down and allowed Toyota to develop the vehicle in other areas.

The EP chassis carried right on through from the EP71 to the EP91 models. To add an independant rear suspension it would not have been an EP model.

Anyone seen under a Yaris recently?

You can't really compare due to the age of components on different cars, even if you have driven the both.

However if both had refreshed suspension and components I'd imagine the GT to handle slightly better.

The only reason for this is the lower centre of gravity that the car has, the EP91 looks taller and has a little more weight up top.

P.S Not to worry my GTti's have independent rear suspension ;)

erm

to be 100% honest, it depends on the setup, BUT

considering both ep82 and 91 have the same chassis, neither is stronger than the other, they should handle very similarly. and as gtti said the ep91 has taller centre of gravity but not by much and is slightly heavier, again not by much.

I think he's scared to open his handbag again in case his Glanza swallows any more money from his purse.

ha ha some thread this made me gigle a few times :) :)

i owned both at the same time and personaly a v would be better for newby turbo drivers coz there slower ha ha also handling i prefer gt handling over v handling !!! the gt handles diferntly to the v in cornering etc etc gt is for older poeple who dont like safty crap and like to get a heart atack daily :) :)

and the real truth to both is both gt and v are the worst handling car in the world !!!!
