Head unit wont work

Hi Folks, I recently had a short run through the car and do quite a costly bit of damage through out. The only thing that does not work is my head unit.

I haven't checked any fuses or tested it for power or anything yet. What i was looking to see is if someone can point me in the right road as to what the faults could be and where I should be looking also what fuses to be checking. I will be looking at it on friday.

I will note it is the big cd player that takes the space of the ash tray also, Im not sure where exactly it came from but it never picked up any of our radio stations. Just if this helps when diagnosing the faults

Thanks

Japanese radios use a lower frequency range than the stations over here broadcast on. You can get a frequency expander for a few quid of Ebay, but its a shite option. As soon as you pull the unit out you will see the wiring behind it, fuse is in the compartment at the drivers right knee.

Left knee surely?

There should be a fuse that covers the stereo and interior lamp in there. (dome I think).

Doublecheck the back of the stereo too as most modern units have a fuse hidden on the arse of them as additional protection.

I had a look at the fuses under my knee and they all look grand, not black that is. Which one exactly is for the head unit?

you need to test them to be 100% sure.

as above, i think it is the one labelled 'dome' but could be wrong
