double checked EVERY connections and after a thorough inspection, i noticed that there's fuel sipping out from 2 injector plugs from the fuel rail. could this be the culprit why the engine won't start? i'm pretty sure i installed the injectors to the rails secruly...is it time to replace the injector grommets and o-rings?
If fuel is leaking for sure it is time to change o-rings on the top side of the injectors. While you are there change the seals on the bottom of the injectors. But i dont think this is your starting issue. And surely return fuel line from the top of the fpr dosent go to the carcoal canister. Should go to a metal pipe just next to the one that fuel comes from the tank.
Have you put back the earth from the photo above? Do you have spark? Till you sort the fuel leak DO NOT attemp to start the car again as it may cause a massive fire.
Chris
next time you do anything to your car, either tag or photograph everything as this will ensure you dont come here and make a thread of a problem that could have been avoided. your guess work in future mechanical jobs may indeed blow your engine up or somthing similar.
your novice knowledge will bite you back. make sure you know what your doing next time.
Oi Magoo
I'm new to the whole starlet gt world as i have just recently bought a GT. In a period of 1 week, i did a bottom end piston removal and insertion of a new one, did acomplete head rebuild, gasket replacemnt, timing belt. and i did all my homework before touching anything i didnt know. I'm mechanically competent and its something like the throttlebody hoses i connected 1st go.
Yeah thats right, i got my hoses on perfect and no water inside intake manifold issue like you have done. Your lucky cos your failure to allocate the hoses to their respective nipples could have cost you an engine. If you had no clue, you should have searched in here for that picture.
In my few weeks of owning my GT, i did not do anything wrong to compromise its operation. Regardless if its a starlet gt or not, cars are cars, if a person has minimal mechanical knowledge, they should leave big jobs to pros like me.
Look, you may use that learn from mistakes thingy, but little things with that throttlebody/hose thing could blow someones engine. Your lack of judgment and knowledge may have cost you an engine, and to me, that would be more than a little mistake. It would be a costly mistake that could have been avoided if you knew what you were doing.
I'm just that damn good with cars and never did anything that could cause ba catastophe.
thanks everyone for you consideration and patience...please bear with me! how do i check for spark and is it possible to check if the injector nozzles open?
Dude what people say is that you need to be more patience and less rude to other people. Some people that come on here they dont even know where the turbo is located under the hood. What we need to do with them? Kill them straight away? Dont think so.. Obviously they visit the comunity to learn more and share their experience of things that happened to them. Nobody was born engineear..all we learn every single day..! Yea?
Do you think i had nothing to say to your '' change piston thread''? You think you do it right? I just didnt coment so a new member wouldnt receive a rude (negative) replay. Keep it low and help other people if you can and if you want. Just leave hars comments on the side and move on with us to the same target..to make our cars better and help each other..
I am not the one that will teach you how to act on here..It was Just my friendly advise.Take it or leave it.
