Hi all

Fresh Recruit
well i thought I would sign up now as im seriously looking into getting a starlet in the new year...

at the moment im driving a 2litre Ford Mondeo...not by choice lol

used to have a clio 1.8 16v, until somebody didnt look where they was going and went into it...fantastic!

so yeah, i'll be on the site alot when i do get a starlet GT in the new year!

a few questions I would like to ask, is there much difference between the older versions and the newer Glanza's?

and how would it compare to my old clio 16v, which are 137bhp standard...?

If anyone could give me some nice info, etc and i will obv use the forum boards alot to.

thanks

Daz

True True. lol. Think it just depends on what you prefer the look of mate, think the glanza is slightly heavier, not sure what other differences. Welcome by the way, enjoy..

Glanza's are heavier but i didnt feel much of a difference

had a GT a few years back and now own a Glanza.

the glanza has one extra blade on the turbo to compensate for the extra fat!!! :)

welcome to the site dude

Hi Daz,

As the lads have mentioned there is little diffrence performance wise, the GT is lighter, the Glanza is heavier but has a slightly more aggressive map and an extra blade, the boost is limited in 1st and 2nd on the Glanza but you can soon remove that.

Obviosuly the Glanza is more expensive unless you buy a dodgy one which seems to be the same price as a GT! :homer: Just be careful where you buy from, we sell and import Starlets and there are many other places that do also so choose wisely otherwise you will pay in the long run. Best piece of advice we can give you is don't rush into the first car you see which is easily done.

There generally very reliable and you can obtain impressive power to weight ratios with the right mods. If you need any help you have certainly come to the right place.

All the best and good luck :)

from personal experience there isnt a Great deal difference in performance between a stock GT and the old clio 1.8 16v... use the same engine as the Renault 19... the 1st 2 gears the GT has an edge over the clio but 3rd gear onwards surprising evens out quite alot....

Just though i would add that in.... always loved those old clios, especially the Williams...

anyway welcome and good luck with your future starlet :)
