HID's look shit and are fucking annoying for other motorists UNLESS they are in a projector.
Anyone with glanzas or squarelamps with HIDS are illegal (in england) and look seriously gay.
Quadlights are fine cause they are projectors and look mega.

don't agree with that at all! when set and focused properly they are perfectly fine.
i have them in non projector lenses, set properly.
they give me much more light than standard bulbs which is safer.
i got them more for better illumination than the look.
i never get anyone flashing me for dazzling them, and they look much better than standard and far from gay lol

naa they really dont mate. They may give you more light but they also give other road users more light because the light is reflected and scattered. HIDS are designed to be used in projectors. Reflectors with hids just look gay imo. Hids with projectors are brilliant because they make the car look alot newer whereas reflectors with hids dont because no new cars with reflectors come with hids. ive had a fair few sets of HIDs and i has some on a square lamp gt and an mr2 turbo and both times i got flashed often.

they must not have been set properly, i've been using hids for a couple of years, mostly non projectors, and i've rarely gotten flashed.
i think they look good, each to their own i suppose!

we'll have to agree to disagree on that one mate. And at 8000k there hardly any better than halogens at all.
4500k is where its at.

The lights in my del sol are fucking weak and I was thinking about getting a set of HID's but I know fuck all about them. Can someone tell me if/why they are illegal in england and what I would need to fit my del sol. Cheers guys.

on the site wes posted there is the option of single beam, bi-xenon and hi/low (in one beam), pretty confused.

That means you have xenon hid on low beam and halogen on high or bi-xenon is high and low beam xenon hid

Thats such a biased comment lad even though you are entitled to your opinion I had 8000k hids in my car and they looked great one of the ballasts failed and thats the only reason I had to take them out they passed the NCT without any problems too and why would people flash you unless they werent focused properly I am going to get a new set soon maybe 6000k or 4500k as they produce more light than the 8000k's

I really don't know what that means Kelly. I want lights that are more powerful than 2 candles sat on my bonnet (like it is at the minute) but not that powerful I melt peoples faces as I drive past! What kit would you recommend from here? Even the descriptions there baffle the fuck out of me! Also are they much of a job to fit? DIY job or a job for someone that knows what they are doing?

its a plug and play job mate, anyone could fit HID's! do you want both your main and full beams to be xenon or just the main beams? if so you want a single beam kit. do u have a GT or glanza? they will vary in fitment depending which you have. with regards to lighting performance, the higher up the scale you go, say 8000k or more, the bluer they will become, i think 4500k has the whitest light so best for brightness, but 6000k have a slight blue tinge to them so look good.

Cheers guys. I've got a Del Sol now but these don't seem to be vehicle specific, are they universal? Any lads in England had problems come MOT time?
