hi guys its been a while.

I've jus got myself another starbo, glanza, and I've decided its going to be my new weekend racing toy… :haha:

its pretty original and hasn't got too many miles clocked so pretty good basis to start from.

i went for my first race (ever  ) last sunday and was awesome fun, but i came last lol… although this was because i was up classed due to my mods… a fmic, decat, zorst, and filter lol

tbh i was happy with my result as i started slowly because i had to drive home after in it, so didn't wana stack it like a car had before me.

anyways. i need some help. well actually a lot haha i want to prove the car, and will now begin to make changes immediately in preparation to haul some ass next year…

also can someone help explain to get pics up and ill show you all my progress :p

Why were you classed up? MSA blue book states that induction is free.... But you will have a theoretical capacity as 1860cc due to the 1.4 multiplier for forced induction.

I used my old Starlet for sprints mainly and never got a chance to hillclimb the bugger.

List all what you have and ill point you in the correct direction.

As for pics, sign up to flickr or photobucket , up load your pics there then using the IMG tags, copy them here.

well thats what i thought would classify for, for the same reason, but because it is "modified" i had to go in gp 8 instead of 4..

the mods i have are as listed in the first post. FMIC, decat, worst, filter and lowering springs. i also have a stainless mani to fit before the next race and new gaskets as its blowing on the mani turbo and cat joints

so my idea was to get a gizzmo wind the boost up ( still not sure on safe limits) and fit my filter relocation kit, mani and gaskets for next race and then work out what needs to be done/ordered at chrimbo for next season.

honestly i would get your suspension and brakes sorted first,

with the boost wound up to 1bar and other supporting mods you'll be looking at 180-190 bhp at the fly, which would help greatly, and can be acheived with an HKS FCD, a SARD rrfpr, tubular exhaust manifold, decat and a dyno session to get the fuelling spot on.

then after that your looking at spending loads on bigger turbo kits etc.

strip it out too , if you haven't already .. rear seats , pass seat , all seat belts ( harness for driver) , aircon , power steering , spare wheel, stereo and speakers , soundproofing , door trims , stick the battery in the boot for distribution . then start buying parts such as lightweight wheels , frp / carbon bonnet . perspex windows .. make sure you have minimal fuel in the tank also around 5 litres to be safe tho,

weight is the enemy.

ok guys so both of you mentioned a lot of stuff that i had planned so thats cool for confirmation! suspension will definitely have to wait for next year/season due to monies and time! but what exactly would you recommend for my use?.. also brakes will also have to wait due to same reasons but will defo be changed swell as i want to use some 16's so i can get bigger brakes under. was thinking of jus fitting some gt-four brakes or something… what does everyone else use? stripping and lightweight will also have to wait as i use the car daily until christmas, but after its exactly what u said bongskat :) the lot!

I've been searching through the forum but kind find what is a safe boost limit with standard internals. I'm sure its 220?.. which would mean I'm safe at least for the next year… :p then i hope to forge it and new turbo etc.

so can anyone pls advise boost levels… thanks for all your inputs so far guys! ps pics to come

Keep boost at 1 bar max if you have an aftermarket exhaust manifold, if not consider porting the stock mani and running a little more fuel to keep it cool in the chambers.

Tyres, you want to spend money on good tyres before any suspension mods. Check the regulations to see what you can use, then look and see what the others in your class are using. 15s will be best as you are wanting to keep the acceleration good out of corners, 16s will hurt that slightly.

thanks wee john :) can you / or anyone confirm that the standard internals can hold the power i will be getting from these mods as i don't want to blow it lol

tyres are on the next months pay plans :p i have some really nice (not too heavy) 16's that i was thinking of using because they're an 8j. i know they'll bog it a little acceleration wise but i was hoping the extra footprint would help the grip and the size may help me not spin up the wheels quite so much on take off?… and they're free with two toyo proxes on :D (jus have to get some part works to get them on!)

Depending on what class he wants to run in, then he can strip the interior out. But then if he does, he needs a roll cage.

15s are by far the best to use, give plenty grip with the right suspension setup.
Sprints are hard on the motor, I wouldn't be aiming for anywhere near 200hp with a CT9. If I was you I would be focusing on getting it to handle then worry about power. Suspension bushes, coil overs, alignment etc

i have to check that murray but I'm in austria so might not be same rules as msa.. also I'm looking to get a cage and go crazy jus have to save up a little probs on next years to do list :p and where do i find the meister r coil overs?…

it does actually handle pretty well so far as the lowering springs are feckin stiff, jus want more grip… tyres are my main problem… will report back differences when i have the 16's fitted anyway (i have to try it! they're free!)

hopefully receive my first bits next week so i have chance to fit them for the race on sun the 7th sep.

thanks for all your inputs so far!

Can you get the rule book no problem?
The MSA here has the "Blue book" online.

Get her on full slicks then and the biggest bottle of Nos you can fit in the back.

If its to big to fit in the back, mount it on the roof and get a bottle heater lol.
